My roommate's brother got a cat to match my roommate's cat. They both live in our apartment and are fighting a fair amount - at least once a day during the short time I'm actually home. They're taking fur and the break away collars off of each other and I've had to break them up with my spray bottle of water-that-might-as-well-be-death.

The original cat is cool - like a dog. I'm trying not to be biased since the new one didn't ask to be put in our apartment. He seems to be the aggressor and I'm trying to be fair by spraying both of them to end their fighting. Neither cat was my decision to have in the house and I can live with it, but it shouldn't be the case that both are kept if they keep fighting.

Has anyone had cats fight that stopped fighting and got along? They're two males, but from what I know about most animals, they'll fight regardless of sex in the right (or wrong) situation. At least that's my observation from most reality tv shows... o_O

    Have they both been neutered?

Removing their nards will calm them down.

I've had pretty good luck by keeping them separated by a door for a week or 2 and only letting them have short supervised visits. As soon as they hiss or strike at each other, they get separated again. Eventually they will work it out tolerate each other.

You could always rotate them in a kennel and have them hang out but separated. I did that when we introduced our dogs to the new cat.
