Well the landlord just blew a fit about my "Registered" dog being there. Telling me I needed to move out and even went on saying I didn't have any medical condition where I needed a dog. I went on to tell him that I didn't know he was a physician and whatever action he needed to take he could go right ahead because by federal law there was nothing he could do about it. He wasn't too happy about it. lol

That's just another reason I'm glad I own my humble little house and my land. NO ONE can tell me what to do or not do on it!

I wish I did. I'm 28 & Single. Renting is just easier on me. I do wish I owned my own place and have thought hard about it several times. Just don't know where i'll be in a few years so I don't want the hassle of having to sell.

Registered because the Land Lord doesn't want dogs there. Law says if he's registered, there's nothing he can do.

    Oh okay.

I'm against that breed specific shit. The Pitt I had, was less aggressive than Polly.

If you bought a house in the $120k range your mortgage would be as cheap if not cheaper than what your probably paying for rent in this area. I bought my first house at 23 and lived there for 5 years. Sold it for $13k more than what I paid for it. If you know your gonna be around for a few years I would really put alot of thought into buying a home. Interest rates are low and property is only gonna go up in Madison county. The whole time I was renting I felt like I was just setting money on fire.

There's also incentives for first time home buyers. Mainly no need for mortgage insurance and they don't require a down payment.

Its Kentucky first time home buyers. I don't know all the rules and they may have changed but there's likely still incentives for first time buyers.

Although my rent is stupid cheap, $500/month utilities included for a 1k sqft trailer, I'd rather own my own home. With at least a carport.
I rent from my cousin who still works on the road, like I used to, and he isn't very proactive about "landlord duties" for me. Which isn't a huge deal, but he sometimes expects me to fix shit that wouldn't be a renter's responsibility. Again, because we're family, I paid no deposit or signed any documents. So there's a lot of gray area.

I'm probably gonna look in the $50k range, something I can put a little work into, less neighbors the better.

If I were a single man, or something ever came up and I ended up divorced I would find some land, over 10 acres for tax purposes. Then I would build a 30x60 or 80 metal building in a location that wouldnt be a burden to a home seat. I would then frame in a third of it and make me a badass little apartment. If I ever got married again or decided I wanted a house I would just build it on the land. If I wanted to move one day I'd either keep it and rent out the apartment or just sell it all.

I don't think you get any of the first time buyer perks when buying land only.

This plan, awesome and perfect as it may be, won't work for me.
