I would love something like that. She would too actually. Finances is the sticking point right now. Single income with two kids and two mortgages. The kicker is she is trying to start a business so frivolous spending is on hold

Ok, so morning folks! I know someone on this thread was saying they were going to Big Bend the week of thanksgiving.... Who was that? Open to trying to start a group thing? I can get the week of thanksgiving and the weekend before off. I figured we could start a thread if there was interest?

All the reserve/group sites are booked for the Natl park. I'm assuming the State park is the same story. So that leaves the "backcountry" spots which are first-come, first-serve. I think the limit on those is 2 - 3 vehicles. I can't remember exactly. If there's more interest we'll have to split into groups.

Morning all

 

Back Country camping is where it's at with Big Bend NP or SP. You can get a few sites in the same "region" so you can hang out during the day but as you said only 2-3 vehicles per lot. I've done NP and want to do SP. If there is a SP run later this year the wife and I will most likely join in.

SP is also less trafficked and better roads to drive!

Side note I won't be doing October it's still hot as balls in October, it will still be near 100 in the basin during the day.

 

This... we need to call I'm assuming really. There are other areas out there to camp too but it is considered the "busy" season.

 

So if they end up booked... who is interested in doing something in new mexico perhaps?

 

I much prefer NM it's wayyy better up in the mountains!

 

Haven't been yet. Planning on a trip along the NMBDR to scout it. If you have any tips or places to go, Please do share!

 

I'd consider it. Worth looking into. My wife may not be allowed to travel to Big Bend so NM would be a good alternative. Then again, she may not be interested in camping at all.

Thanksgiving week!!! I am interested AF!

Im headed to NM next week with my son. We will be doing the first segment or 2 of the Enchanted Rockies Trail and also exploring the area between Cloudcroft and Ruidosa.


Who will start the trip planning thread. If we lock in a group, we can plan on the split at night if we have a large group

 

I can start a thread for planning tonight.. too busy at work to knock it out today. I am SO ready for a weekend.

 

Me too! We have some more lay offs today but luckily, its the last of them for now. Bring me the weekend, a sawzall, some time @Texoma's, Beers and some shade. Im ready to relax and watch him work! hahahahah jk, I will help for sure!
