After being locked up for 65 long days, the taco has finally been released. Should have asked for a complementary car wash but what the hell, just happy to finally get my truck back.

Well, I'm on day 71, so sounds like any day now I should get a call. Sounds like I should ask to see it up on the lift so I can inspect their work!

Yesterday, i got a call from my local dealer's service manager. To make a long story short, he said that my truck will be ready by Saturday. Guessing parts may come in later tonight or early Saturday morning. i asked where am i on the list? He said #1. That's why Saturday seems to be mentioned more than usual.

Honestly, I won't believe it until i do get that call Saturday. So in the mean time, i'll keep counting the days, which is now at 77.

Called the service manager last night...... "We're still in the inspection & hold phase, no sign
of when parts may be in".......

Hi All, just had my 10,000 mile service and diff. recall check and the dealership wants to preform the recall replacement fix. Said they would call me once the parts are in. I have been under the truck several times to check for leaks and I see none. I hate to go thru all that repair if the truck doesn't need it. Do they want to do it as down the road it may start to leak? From what I have read it's a big job and risk a poor job/repair. Should I hold off for a while and keep an eye on it. Dam!

You can ask them to hold off. People have had them refuse to give the trucks back. That's where all the discontent comes from.

    Also, welcome to Toyota!

Are any of the new Toyota 4Runners having this problem? I'd think Toyota would use the some of the same parts as on the Tacoma to build those vehicles.

Congratulations you finally got it back, I'm waiting for my 10k oil change to have mine checked because of you and others long confinement period. Thanks for letting the community know the real deal with this bs. By the way be glad you didn't get the free car wash, when my truck was 2 weeks old I went in for my first dealer freebie and the auto washer created a 14 inch swath of scratches around the entire circumference of the truck, then they took 2 weeks to frickin' buff them out. That was my last complimentary car wash...:annoyed::crapstorm:

...and still has the 5-speed transmission mated to the 4.0 V6 that was on the second gen without the leaks.

My truck has been gone for so long now, when I go in on Monday to re-sign the loaner contract, I think I'm going to also have them do my 2 year maintenance whenever they finally get to mine. I may as well get that done too. lol

Congrats. You must be pumped to have your truck back. Did your dealer use sealant like WNYTACO or were they able to do it with just a gasket?

Took my truck in yesterday for the 15K service and they inspected my rear diff. No leaks but I already knew that. The just checked the torque on the bolts and sent me down the road.
