Heres how I did it, for anyone interested (drivers side):

    Pulled the ABS sensor
Removed the sensor wire guide from the knuckle (behind the disc backing plate)
Removed the brake line bracket from the frame
    Removed the axle nut
Removed the 2 balljoint bracket bolts
Tapped the axle with a rubber mallet to free it
Pulled the hub assembly out of the way, pulling the axle out, and holding the hub assembly out of the way with a ratchet strap
Took and old cold chisel that I had dulled flat, set it on one of the indents, and whacked it a few good times with a hammer to remove the axle
    Removed the old oil seal
Used the collet (shown earlier in this thread) to draw the old bearing out
Installed the new bearing with the proper bearing driver
Installed the new oil seal, spring side toward diff, flush with housing
Coated end of axle with axle grease
Carefully inserted axle, rotating it when it contacted diff gears until splines were properly engaged.
Set axle on chassis so that it was parallel and was applying slight inward tension
Using a 3 foot length of 1" steel pipe, I set the edge of the pipe in one of the indents, and gave it a few good whacks to drive the axle in. The 3 foot length of pipe extended beyond the chassis components and allowed me to freely swing the hammer.
    The rest is simple reassembly

The same shit everyone else has.
Pretty much dead on how I did mine too.

Instead of a driving the axle out with a hammer and chisel, I use a big wedge between the axle and diff to pop the axle out past the C clip.

Everyone else is pretty much the same as described above.

I put 150some miles on the truck yesterday. The diff is still dry. There is some oil on the crossmember and a few other things. I think this is left over from before. I never wiped it off before, just shot some brake cleaner on it. I plan on crawling under it tonight to give everything a wiping.

So far, so good. Roughly 200 miles.

I spent a good half hour under the try spraying and wiping everything down. Everything I wiped off was tacky, none of the gear lube appeared to be new.

Ill put another 200ish miles on the truck during this week. Ill crawl under it again this weekend and give it another once over, then if its good, I can put the skid back on.

    For reals.

Another 20ish miles on the truck today, dry underneath still. I wiped everything off real good yesterday and it still looks good.

Skid plate goes back on tomorrow

UPDATE - For anyone following or still wondering, I put roughly 1000 miles on the truck since reinstalling the seal, still dry.

    Id say it is fixed

I know this is an old thread, but I need advice. I did my ECGS bushing and seal today. Got everything back together and now roughly 20 miles later I have a very slight weep from the seal. As in after about 10 minutes of watching it you will see it drip. I know it's not old oil because I wiped everything down after install. Is there any chance of this sealing up or am I looking at a new seal? I work crazy hours so spare time for this stuff is hard to come by. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Clean it again. It’s normal for a little tiny bit to weep out after. If it doesn’t stop leaking after you wipe it out again...new seal

Thanks for the fast reply! I got home and saw the drip and freaked out. I'll keep an eye on it but at least I know now that a weep can be expected.

Leak has stopped for now. Hopefully it won't start again after driving.

Watch it for a few days. You may have overfilled it.

Good news, a year and a half later (probably 20k miles) and it’s still bone dry.

If it's just over filled can the fluid push past the seal without damaging it? I'll
    drain any excess tomorrow.

The seal looks like it's in too far. The outer edge should be flush with the surface.
