Need ideas....I broke off the head of the mid skid bolt. I got an extractor bit. was tying to center punch it so the drill would stay in the middle. The fing welded nut broke away from the inside of the frame. Now just a hole there. And that part of the frame is enclosed. :annoyed:Any ideas? Anyone?

Cut it out, weld nut to small cutout piece from frame, weld cutout piece back onto frame. Good luck.

How far from an open part of the frame?

I'd probably go for the old "don't worry about it" method

Can you make something like this and fish it in from a hole somewhere in the frame?

About 4 in. I think I could fish a bolt into the hole with safety wire, but there's no way to get a wrench on once its in there.

Sorry, I meant from where you could get a wrench in there. Ive taped nylock nuts into wrenches then duct taped the wrench to a piece of steel tubing to fish it in there. Ive also taken a torch to I dont know how many cheap tools to bend them to fit various problem spots.

Then have a welder tack weld it.
Or tack weld a stud in the opening.

I had the stock welded nuts on my TRD skidplate do the same thing and replaced them with some rivnuts/nutserts and it worked out perfect

My welded nuts on the TRD skid did it to....I spend too much time at the beach. I just used nut and bolt for it since I could get to both sides. I'll replace those will nutserts too if this works out. Did you use an install tool or a DIY set up I see online to install them?

When I added M8 rivnuts to my bed they were a bitch to do the DIY way. Bought a $20 rivnut tool of Amazon with the dual handles and it was way easier. Smaller rivnuts or the kind that have slits in them so they fan out are easier with the DIY tool. Or maybe I'm just a wimp lol

I used the DIY bolt/double nut/washer method. Ive been using this method for all the rivnuts I do. Larger ones like M8 and M10 are a lil harder to do but with some practice, they get easier.

the bolt that broke was an M8-1.25. Would you use a smaller rivnut?
If I use the M8, assume I will have to drill to make the hole larger.

Thanks for everyone's ideas. I ordered a rivnut kit on Amazon today.
