Damn brotha, you look like Charles Manson's bastard child!!!:goingcrazy::crazy::notsure: LOL!!!:laugh::rofl: Just kidd'n brotha, but your pic DOES look "scary", LMAO!!!:fistbump::drunk:

Btw, do you have comms? Most people are using the Baofeng UV-5R model. Personally, I prefer CB when on a trail, but that's just me. In either case, having comms helps quite a bit if you don't already have one. Better to have something than nothing!!!

Speaking of comms, this is a damn good price people!!! It's a 5W radio and if you can afford the 8W, I would recommend that a bit more, but still, 5W is more than good enough to reach the rig in front/behind you on a trail!!!

Also, it already comes with a MIC, which I highly recommend (supposedly, according to the listing) and it comes with an aftermarket antenna, which I highly recommend!!! NOT a bad deal for the price!!!:fistbump:

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06X6GS3RF?psc=1

    EDIT:
Apparently, car charger only though. No "AC" cradle charger (i.e. AC style wall adapter). But still a good price over all!!! NOT too bad!!!:notsure:

LOL!!! It's okay, brotha, because I'm losing hair myself and starting to look like Friar Tuck!!!:fistbump: LOL!!!:laugh::rofl:

If you have any questions about comms, I might be able to help with the questions. I don't know how much you know about radios? But, in either case, it definitely helps to have a radio and the link I posted just above, you really canNOT get any cheaper than that for what it comes with!!! The aftermarket antenna is a PLUS as far as I'm concerned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously tho, thanks for the heads up about radios. I've been lookin in to getting one.
So mostly everyone has a handheld because of, I would imagine, convenience and cost? No reason to get one installed right?

The mobiles (i.e. installed) typically have much, much higher wattage output power. From as low as 10W to upwards of around 55-65W!!!

Honestly, the handhelds are more than good enough because it is NOT all that often that you're gonna be speaking to someone that is MILES AWAY from you!!! I mean, seriously???!!! If you're THAT far behind, left behind, etc then you have bigger things to worry about!!!

An installed mobile is already going to cost $120+ easy!!! That's just including the mobile radio and maaayyyyy be an antenna (typically a magmount). I can already tell you that a hardmount style antenna starts around $50+.

But yeah, a handheld is much cheaper, in this case, overall.

And IF you ever get a radio, whether a handheld or mobile... at the very least... get a "dual band", which is what that radio is in that link that I just posted above.

For many reasons, you have much better "options". You can either use 2m and/or 70cm (144-148/420-450MHz, respectively). Hence, "dual band".
