hello tacoma world. I currently have a issue with my 2009 tacoma. Just a couple days ago this weird scratchy noise started coming from my driver side front wheel. So I bent back the heat shield and looks for maybe a stuck Rock and the noise continued. So I replaced the drivers side wheels bearing, noise still remained, put it up on jack stands and put it in 4 wheel drive and there was no noise so that eliminates the front diff. I'm out of options here. If anyone can help out it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Yes, so when we did that to me it seems as if that would eliminate the problem cause when we had it down we put it in 4 wheel drive and the noise was there.

Check the warning tabs on the brake pads

Yes we checked the squealer and it's not that cause when we use the brakes the noise goes away

Have you took the brake pads out? There is a void in the middle of the pads. Could be a rock in there

I really don't know it's hard to diagnose from behind a keyboard. I'm just trying to suggest the easiest thing to check first

Also might want to look into the ECGS spacer.... eliminates a "faulty" needle bearing on driver side where CV meets front diff...

The symptoms of a bad needle bearing go away when you put it into 4 wheel drive.
