Took a rest ride a few days ago in a 2017 DCSB OR. I have a teenage daughter who gets car sick easily n frequently. She Complains about ride in my 2003 DCSB TRD Prerunner. The 2017 seemed to ride fine at freeway speeds ; but on "less than smooth" city streets there seemed to be a rocking of the front end over bumps, dips and rough pavement. Also rocked or dipped during braking. Is this a function of the OR suspension? Will the stiffer(?) SR5 suspension eliminate or minimize this rocking? I'm ready to buy new Tacoma ASAP.

I wouldn't trust opinions on this. A true judgement may be a little too subjective. Take one for a looooong test drive and find out for yourself. FYI: my wife gets car sick. She doesn't mind my 2016 TRDOR. Bear in my no she only sits in the front seat. That matters. Good luck.

Thanks harrycary. I'm going to take another test ride later today (with daughter). Dealer reluctant to allow long test ride...but I'll try to demand one. They also offered test ride on SR5 4wd. I'll probably try both. Can afford to upgrade stock suspension on SR5 if that will minimize rocking.

unfortunately i totally agree with this. my wife is similar. turns out, the smoother i drive the worse she gets. i had soft C tires before and it was horrible for her. i replaced those with E tires that are like driving on rocks and she's not complaining anymore. if she can feel the road she's ok. if she can't but only feels the motion, she gets sick. kinda unexpected but there you go.

Thanks. My 03 rides quite stiff even on freeway and she complains. Here's hoping she doesn't mind 2017 on test ride!!

I actually bought my OR because of the ride compared to the SR5 and Sport, it's much softer and rolls gently around corners. I liked that over the stiffer ride of the other models.

Honestly though a ridgeline is the answer here, they are a lot less bouncy due to the platform.

Considered a Ridgeline....but service guy at my Honda dealership said he wouldn't take one to Baja where I travel occasionally. Plus they look like crap. Maybe when I old n feeble I'll consider a RL!

Ride quality is very subjective, my wife gets car sick easily and she did quite well on a recent road trip in our OR. I love the ride quality of the OR and had a great time on some back forest roads just last week.

My friend is very sensitive to car sickness and called it out on the pitching when coming to a stop. Unfortunate for her we were in stop and go traffic. So I would say that is what your daughter is picking up on too. But most other times it's butter smooth due to the soft suspension. Try an sr5 and see if it helps or go to the completely opposite end of the spectrum and try a trd sport

I have a PRO and it feels like a boat ride...Have bought Icon coilovers with 700# springs to make it very stiff.

E tires made my OR handle better like a suv now. it was really bad in turns. My wife and kids don't complain but I had lowered cars bouncing that didn't bother them either.

Put her in the front seat and have her look at the horizon. Worked for my daughter.

The OR suspension is very comfortable but it's soft. You'll have the front dip went coming to a stop.

So why'd you buy a pro, bro?

I say bring her for a test drive and see if she vomits everywhere.

Is she on her phone when she gets sick? That will get me quick fast in a hurry. Have to keep your eyes on the road/out of the car so your brain expects the movements. If you just get jostled randomly it'll make you sick.

My OR is pretty stiff and bounces around when I hit bumps. If that's a smoother ride than a sport or SR5, I'd hate to feel the ride quality in those

My sport is a pretty plush ride! My wife just got a 2017 Highlander and even she remarked how my truck was smoother over bumps in the interstate. Her Highlander is the ultimate road vehicle though. Those things are nice!

Have you test driven a DCLB? The longer wheel-base seems to smooth things out a little IMHO.

I came from a sport sedan and the OR suspension has a lot of body roll, squat and dive compared to the sport has a much more plush ride. I ended up upgrading to Icon stage 1 suspension with their progressive leaf pack. It definitely handles much better without being as bumpy as the sport, nice in between feeling while being able to take big bumps/hits just fine.
