Someone on this site a couple weeks ago posted something like this exact thing on the hood of theor MGM truck. Toyota took care of it. Try searching OP. I don't remember who did a post on this.

OP, you've been talking to Smitty too much. Didn't you know that 3rd gen tacos are 99.99% deficiency free? Smitty is the only one with problems with the 3rd gen and everyone else is "looking" for problems....:jerkoff:

Seriously though, hopefully Toyota takes care of this for you.

I've had several Super White Toyota's and never had an issue with paint, even without a clear coat. You can seal it if you want, but in my experience it's totally un-necessary.

Any update on the OP's issue?

If you search my posts I posted something in the thread with the damaged MGM paint, at least it's a place to start

It's actually the main reason that you should get it.

Why are people fearful of single stage paint? It has nothing to do with the 'softness' of the water borne paints that the EPA requires. Everything is soft, including clear coat.

It will never have peeling clear coat, you can touch it up better/easier and you can color match damaged panels much easier (non metallic/pearl)

Keep it washed and waxed and it will last longer than a clear coated vehicle when used in equally harsh conditions.

Some of the primary reasons I just shot a boat I'm restoring with a single stage urethane.

I'd love to have my truck done in urethane!

Had a mid 80's Blazer done in black with that stuff. Loved it.

That looks suspiciously damaged by human hands. Like buffed/sanded through. Way too defined of a rectangular area to just be a naturally occurring defect.

I have nothing against the paint and avoid automatic car washes but, it hasn't even been a year and it's already fading. I just want it fixed but not out of my pocket.

Could have been caused by a LOT of things. Probably some type of substrate contamination.

That spot is not 'fading'. That's a flaw, either in the initial work or some damage that has occurred since shipment.

If the truck as a whole is 'fading', it's not being maintained well enough.

I hope you are able to get it repaired as well. My guess is that you'll get an offer of paint/blend on that area of the hood. I'd be seeking an entire hood refinish.

The reason I say fading is because I am starting to notice a cloudiness around the initial spot.IMG_1465.jpg
Something like this, it's hard to catch a picture on the truck with it being white

Your sample photo there is peeling clear coat.

Make an appointment, see what the dealer says is up.

There is nothing wrong with Toyota's white. Jesus, you guys are crazy. This is a defect of some sort, but Toyota isn't using paint that doesn't hold up. Every manufacturer has things go wrong, but single stage paint has been used for a very very long time.

So much to say when a door is opened this wide. But I prefer to not be put in time out. :p
