    Right...
I live in Utah, and there is a company in Ogden UT who manufactures them for close to nothing. The name of the company is called Rhino Linings of Utah. The only use for them is to protect any differential you have in the rear when in reverse... Usually they are longer and come with bolts to bolt on over the rear differential. Other than that, you could probably manufacture one very easily yourself, so long as you have any sort of steel welder. (TIG welder, Steel Flux Core welder, GMAW welder, Etc)
    Happy Wheelin'!!!!

Thanks 4x4TEK, What I like it for when changing grade, it's my receiver that usually touched down. Pretty careful about my differential as my truck is my daily driver and I have it armored with Pelfreybilt skid plates. I just figured one would be nice when doing my off road trips to protect rear bumper, spare tire, and give me a little more back there rather than buy a whole bumper setup. Always do my shopping here first, keeps the $$ in the community.

If enough guys were interested I could put together a handful of them. Price would be cheaper than that listed in this post. Especially if we don't have them powder coated

Arrived this last week. Heavy powder coat, very nice fit and finish. Postage was free. Arrived three days after placing order

The skid slides right in, sits below the bumper so no issue with tailgate. Has a nice ring to it which indicates good steel, nice and thick, has a good feel. I will be heading out at in May to Bodie and other back road places, will have it on for the trip.

Pretty much, but not like it would be a hassle to swap pieces to tow something when necessary. Seems like it's further out than it should be. DCLB's for example are long enough and trying to go over whatever needed off-roading, I would feel at that point you might as well take a chance at hitting your hitch and get the extra couple inches of clearance. Wouldn't mind if it hugged the hitch/rear-bumper in the same size, such as what a regular front stock skid would look like. I do love this idea/mod

I very rarely dig in with my receiver as I drive to be able to go to work when back from a road trip. It is only when dropping down then up that it hits, and especially if backing up. Does not weigh that much and will give measurements when I next post. I really did not want to spend the extra $$ for a whole rear setup and would have even liked to find someone that made a light weight receiver mounted gas can holder as well. I like the bike racks where you pull a pin and it drops down out of the way of the tailgate. If it was a simple one that would hold like maybe two rotopax would be perfect. I don't go rock hopping, usually making runs across Black Rock desert, Ocotillo Wells SVR and surrounding area, Grey Eagle, Johnsville, and Mojave Desert

I snagged one a few months ago, I will be putting it through it paces next week in Moab. I think it will be great for saving the rear bumper since it's nice and wide. I'll let you know how it works.

Just got back from trip to Swansea-Cerro Gordo, only touched 4 or 5 times climbing the 3,800 feet up the mountain. Worked like a charm.

I'd definitely be interested if you did, since its a lot cheaper than a new rear bumper at the moment.

I have one of these on my FJ. It has come in handy a few times while off roading. I have seen post where it was handy when someone was rear ended as well with less damage to the rear of their vehicle. I leave mine on the FJ all the time and plan on putting one on my Tacoma.

It'll be a skid plate when in reverse and a potential shovel when going forward.

Any updates how this has been. Watching lots of Tacoma Pro reviews, rear hitch seems to tag a lot. This is a cheap option besides losing rear hitch and going to a custom bumper.
