IMG_0867.jpg IMG_0868.jpg First off, I want to apologize because this topic has been beaten to death on this forum, but I'm having trouble identifying a specific hole under my dash on the passenger side. I just bought this truck Tuesday. On our way back from our 4 hour ride home, my buddy noticed a small drip hitting his ankle. I've searched this and other forums for answers. I checked the drain at the firewall and it's draining fine. I probed around with a pipe cleaner, and it seems wide open. I drove about an hour last night, and again found a few drops of water, a half teaspoon at the most on the rubber floor mat. Immediately, I looked under there and took a couple of pics. I live in Mississippi, and it's extremely humid right now. The water had no odor. I am just hoping someone can identify this hole I took the picture of. Again. I tried to wade through the threads and find a answer. Thanks in advance for any ideas!

Well, searching fo "A/C condenser drain" didn't give any results. I changed the cabin air filter this afternoon hoping that would help. It still dripped after that. I'll continue searching. IMG_0870.jpg

you need to search for evaporator drain. Pretty easy to get them mixed up.

The moisture could just be the humidity in the cab condensing on the duct work under the dash.

Can you try switching the vents around? Put the controller on feet instead of dash?

Thanks for the replies. I was looking some more last night I was afraid to get too aggressive probing around in the rubber hose. I found where it comes through the floor and is in one piece. I plan on pulling back, straightening it and trying to do a more thorough cleaning soon.

Wow! Thanks for sharing this! I wish I'd seen this before I posted. That's the same hole, and also sounds like the same amounts dripping onto the floor mats. I have a 100 mile drive ahead of me this afternoon, so I'll run the air on recirculate and see if anything changes.

Here is an oddity--on my '09 DCSB that well, protrusion, nipple, whatever moulded into the evaporator housing is capped/blocked/not open:

The cap appears to be a separate piece, snap-in maybe--could be its being open is a later model thing, or maybe a delivery region thing (mine was "ordered" by the PO for Florida delivery. or maybe someone "forgot"--IDK? But there it is...

    --------------------------------------
Edit: Looking at '09 parts online I see that the DC lower evaporator case is a different p/n that the non-DC--maybe that's the difference???

Well, I ran the A/C on recirculate on the way home today. About halfway home, I saw a few small drops hit the mat. I'll definitely investigate and see if that hole should be capped. I have a few buddies with Tacomas. I've never heard them mention this issue. I will have them look under and see if their holes are open or closed! Lol.

I checked the 2009 v. 2015 part numbers for the lower evaporator case, there is still the DC/non-DC distinction but same numbers...

Well, my cousin has an 09 Double cab. His opening is closed. A buddy has a 2014 Doublecab, and his is open like mine. He's never noticed this issue before, but I don't think he has rubber mats, either. Im gonna call the local Toyota service department tomorrow. Maybe they can explain why that was changed.

Mine also drips on occasion. Hope you figure something out. Floor mats catch it so I haven't been concerned

Can't get a heck lot more humid than here (at least this time of year)--no inside AC or other leaks in any of our cars--eight of which have been Toyotas-- for 26 years now...
