I went to OEM steel wheels, afterwards my MPG seemed to have gotten worse
I took the truck to shop in prep for 2.5 week trip to check why my MPG has dropped.
Everything checked out OK and shop suggested running the BFG A/T with the steel rims could be the problem
Anyone else running them see a MPG decrease?

How much more does the current wheel/tire package weigh than the set previously being run?

Unsprung weight is the enemy of everything. Including MPG.

Previous wheels were the OEM aluminum set with same tires

    A lot
    Yes.

Went to FJ steelies and my mpg dropped from +/- 18 to 16.

Most likely going to switch back at the end of the week. While it looks better the weight is noticeable

I'm going to price new wheels tomorrow or maybe go back to my OEM aluminum wheels if I can get the plastic dip off of them.

The wheels are likely the cause for the decrease in performance. Generally speaking, steel wheels weigh about 35% more when compared to an aluminum wheel of the same size.

Let us know if we can help you with a new set of aftermarket aluminum wheels. DTD has a great selection to choose from and would love to earn your business!
