    Tacoma drivers,

I own a 2011 DC TRD OR Tacoma, stock height, and I'm approaching the time to replace my shocks again. The last replacement I used Belstein 4600 front and back. 20-25 % of my driving is off road, but not rock crawling.

Is there any advantage to using the Belstien 5100 series vs the 4600 and no lift anticipated?

    Thanks
    Bob

I believe that mechanically the 5100s and 4600s will perform the same, but the 5100s allow for "comfortable" lift. That being said, the 5100s are much prettier. :D

OK, I looked up the 5100's last night. They are pretty sweet.

They're identical internally with *slightly* different valving and a larger body on the 5100 with a tiny bit more travel. Nothing magical about either one. They're just good stock replacement shocks. Don't listen to people who say there is a night and day difference between the two.

I'd pay the couple extra dollars and get the 5100's.

I've done plenty research on shocks for this truck - the 5100 is a slightly better shock than the OEM Offroad or Sport shock. But its not significantly better. The people saying its significantly better or a 'nice' upgrade are just experiencing the new suspension feeling all over again.

4600 are barely good, the 5100 are slightly better, and the 6112 are almost the best. Shocks fall into the 'you get what you pay for' category, unfortunately.

I love the ride of my TRD Off Road. I don't plan on changing the shocks/struts any time soon. Based on what has been posted here, I doubt I'd see much improvement.
