Salutations and greetings yall! I'm Smokey and that's my dog Bandit.

I just joined TW about a week ago officially, meaning I finally got my 2017 TRD PRO Tacoma! Just wanted to introduce myself, I'm in Roswell GA. I'm new to off roading but have always driven up to north GA for camping, so I've been on a few fire/logging roads. So only damp behind the ears!

Current Projects - out fitting the truck with recovery equipment, adding off road protection like a Fab Fours bummer or similar mod, and looking for 5 rims for mud tires.
Only thing slowing me down is information and money haha

I'm excited to be a part of this community and look forward to finding yall out in the woods. Happy trails everyone.

Quick question: Does anyone local know of some good stores to go browse tools and equipment like straps, winches, bummers, pull pals etc. ?

    (again)

As for armor I'd look into sliders and skids first as in Ga you'll use those more than anything. Get some good tires and those armor and you'll have a pretty capable truck. Then when it comes time and you know what you want suspension wise you can go balls out with Kings or another similar brand. Or get something on the cheaper side such as OME.

As for recovery there aren't any good stores really. Maybe 4 Wheel Parts but shit Amazon has better prices.

    Hi dude, cool, and thanks!
Do you know if adding protection like sliders and skids messes with your suspension much or at all? Also how long can I put off this "balls out" procedure lol, I haven't even looked as suspension costs (WTF did I get myself into "cant find the money hemorrhage emoji")!

It'll add a little weight but not enough to sag like a front bumper would. If you've got good tires, sliders and skids you could get away with it for a while. You'll get some scrapes and dings but that comes with off-roading. Just gotta have a good line and spotter. But the front coilovers depending on what ya get can be anywhere from $500-$1500 alone

    I mean I wouldn't mind one

I saw that, don't have wifi at work (been 2 weeks) and then I forgot to check when I got home. So I'll look at it at lunch today!

Damn, I guess I'm no longer the only Pro on this pageo_O:thumbsup:
Welcome Smokey and Bandit. Skids and legit sliders first. Bumpers are cool and certainly have there purpose, but you want to protect your undercarriage and those soft vulnerable rocker panels. RCI metalworks has some good prices on skids and sliders. Yes you just picked an expensive hobby. A very expensive one. As far as suspension goes, I would suggest running the Pro suspension to get your money out of them. I Upgraded my pro suspension probably around 30,000 miles, and it was beginning to sag from all of the weight of additional weight I added. However King's do ROCK!!!
Piece of advice, I truly believe in, is you buy once, to cry once. Have fun in your build. Do a lot of research on your own. feel free to ask questions on here, but also know there a lot of dumb asses that will feed you bad advice. (like the guy who said I could run 315's on my stock rims). Hopefulyy we can meet you and see your ride some time in the future.

Yeah don't hesitate to ask questions IN HERE! We won't be like most of the 3rd gen forum and berate you with stupid comments (well mostly) IMO there is no dumb question because we all started out like this!

    But research research research

Awesome! Once work settles down I'll be able to do more fun things. I'm north of the perimeter, near Alpharetta.

Hey guys. Just moved up here about a year ago. One of my icon rear shocks blew and I am going to rebuild it. Does anyone know where I can get the nitrogen charged or maybe someone has the equipment? I am in Newnan.
