Brian, I am mainly looking to upgrade my suspension with quality components. Now, I'm not looking to enter my Tacoma into the Mint 400, but I would like for it to carry some speed through different terrains.

For example: I go through this dirt field by my house at about 30 mph safely, I am looking to double that speed safely. Would it fit me better to get a MT kit?

As you can see, I am a speed junkie. I enjoy the fire road adventures, but I would enjoy going through the desert at (enter speed here). I'm not looking to thrash the truck. But if my dad wanted to go have some fun, I want my truck to be able to handle it.

    Probably.
If your doing 30 down the road now, stock.
Then to do what you want I think, you wouldn't need anything more than mid.

@ItsRichieRich, i've got a mid setup on my truck and holds up really well doing 60-70 offroad. All the roads around my house have decent dips in them and it's soaks it up pretty will. Like Danny said previously if your hitting whoops and major stuff then LT should be your choice.

Meaning I don't need extra fancy stuff in the rear then? So far I learned that I would need rear shocks (Kings) and upgraded leafs. Am I on the right track or do I need other things?

I appreciate you guys helping me. If this was a motorcycle topic, I can go on about it all day.

Probably Idyllwild or Ortega. Palomar is usually a good option but I've had too many close calls at that place so I tend to stay away.

Ortega! Sweet . I've heard it's a good run from others. Not sure about the others.
Palomar is a closed course right?

you don't unless you really want the fancy stuff! But your on track.....kings in the rear and pick the right set of leafs for what you want to do with your truck. Different leafs (Allpro, Deaver, OME, etc.) will give you different rides depending on what your loading on the track and what kind of offroad your doing.

@ItsRichieRich on a 3.5" over LT kit you'll need fiberglass fenders. Total Chaos and Baja Kits both offer 2" over LT kit where you can use your factory fenders.

Most people are satisfied with mid travel, but there's a lot of options out there.
All depends how fast you want to go, and what you're going over. Oh yeah and your budget!

    Here's some info to help:

Mid Travel ~9-10" travel - Coilovers + UCA + Aftermarket leaf pack with correct rear shocks
    King/Icon/Fox/ADS + TC/Camburg/Icon/SPC + Dakar/All Pro/Deaver

Super Mid travel ~12" of travel - 2" over LT + TC SUA
    http://www.chaosfab.com/2005-2015-Tacoma-2-Race-Series-Long-Travel-Suspension-Kit-86002T-R.html
    http://www.bajakits.com/i-26499173-...4wd-2-prerunner-kit.html?ref=category:1339668
    http://www.chaosfab.com/2005-2015-Tacoma-Mid-Travel-Rear-Suspension-Kit-86450HD

Below requires fiberglass fenders + custom fabrication:
Long Travel ~14" up front ~16" out back - 3.5" over LT + DMZ SUA
    Dirt King/Camburg/TC/Built Right/Solo... + DMZ/Camburg SUA

Super LT ~19" up front and 20+ out back - 4.5" over LT + Links
    Solo XLT/DTF + Custom links.

(Note: I'm sure I didn't cover all the brands but at least gives an idea)

Keep it the way it is. Maybe swap out the rear springs. Use that money and travel.

Palomar is just like Ortega, but less traffic. Much more tight and technical though.

Awesome! I did not know that, thank you for letting me know. The truck is my weekend warrior, long trip vehicle and track day hauler since I track my motorcycle a few times a year.

What does "x.x over LT" mean exactly? The extra length of travel or something? Would the 2" over LT kit technically be a LT or MT kit?

Thank you, now I have something to base my build off of. How's the ride on Icon for daily driving? Pretty comfortable?

This is exactly what I was looking for!!!
