Do you have the older dakars of the new ones that come in either light or heavy duty? Trying to decide which dakar set-up is best for me.

The heavy duty one's are for a truck hauling a lot of weight in the rear all the time. States for 660 lbs. I doubt seriously you will be near that unless you have a lot of stuff in the bed constantly.

Yeah, that's what I figure as well. I was really concerned about losing the high speed driveability and comfortable ride of the OEM. I've ridden in some pretty rough Toyotas, haha, and I didn't want that. I don't carry a lot of weight, but I do pull a horse trailer and I drive off road. The ICON is perfect for what I'm doing. my truck is new, but if down the road it starts to bottom out I'll do something else. No big deal. Rear leaf springs aren't rocket science, haha. With the progressive ICON setup I have with the TRD Pro suspension, the truck has much better suspension than the OEM - firm, but comfortable, corners flat and doesn't dive if I stand on the brakes.

An AAL is just fine. There's no sense in getting a new leaf pack if yours are just fine. I have new leafs on my '05, and I plan on using my AAL for the next year or two, THEN replacing with a full leaf pack. That more then pays for my $75 AAL.

AALs are cool, if you're putting them on a leaf pack that isn't beat. I put a toytec aal on stock leaf pack for my 13 dcsb. I recently swapped them out for OME leafs.

The life of it may be shortened, but $78 for at least a years worth of use is worth it to me. This is what I'm running.

Yeah, sure, as isaid above, I tow a horse trailer with mine and its perfect. make sure your trailer is carrying the load and not the tongue and the back of the truck. How you distribute load is important when you're pulling a trailer.

My wheelers 3 leaf progressive suits my needs just fine. I know Dakars are a better solution all around, but at the time money was a little tight and needed to be directed elsewhere. So, am I paying more when I upgrade? Yes. But do I NEED it? Nah man I don't... (yet) :D

That's exactly where I'm at. I'll eventually get a full leaf pack, but this will suit my needs just fine until then.

Basically aal is a bandaid. Once you get some weight if you overland say a bedrack, rtt, fluids, whatever you load down a aal it sags i will find the pics of a guy i follow on insta. He also went the aal route and recently went with full dakars and regretted the aal

I don't get why people "regret" getting an AAL. Even if it only lasts a year, you're only out ~$80 and during that time it served its purpose. We've all spent more money on dumber shit.

If you want to wait 2 weeks, i'm installing my 6112s/5160s with the dakar light duty pack. 5160s are slightly longer extended than the nitrochargers which ome makes to work specifically with the dakars. Haven't worried about it since.

Exactly this. Stock springs sag and break as well as the centering pins being crap as I experienced firsthand.
