Does anyone have a set of OEM roof rails they don't want? There doesn't seem to be any decent deals online

The crossbars are usually only engineered to hold about 100 lbs each. Most RTT's weigh 100+ then when you get into it, you'll be over. I don't have either one but I wouldn't really try.

Thanks for the response. Does anyone have other recommendation for roof rack? I actually have a bed rack on order but it will be a while...I want to buy a decent roof rack to use the roof top tent until then and keep the rack for an awning down the road. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Kind of along the same lines, I'm curious if an OEM roof rack will support an awning and if anyone has this setup how exactly did you mount it? Thanks in advance

The OEM roof rack isn't very functional for many folks' needs. You could put a single kayak up there, maybe a single bike, but anything more than that and you're way over the weight capacity. Lots of other options out there depending on your needs though. I'm extremely pleased with my Prinsu.

Besides the weight, you also have to take into account the added drag from the wind resistance. So if you max out the weight, or close enough to it, it can still be potentially dangerous.

I just put a Yakima on my Tacoma. Absolutley love it. Carried my canoe and bikes and I had the confidence I wasn't over the weight limit.

I put the baseline towers with corebars and the windshield. Came out to about $300 shipped from an online rack warehouse 4th of July sale.

So my understanding is that the weight limit on bars is a dynamic weight rating. Meaning while the vehicle is in motion. But the static weight limit is much greater as the weight is distributed down through the frame of the cab.

Do the OEM roof rails involve drilling to install?
