Looking for a good aftermarket FM antenna to do a relocate to either the bed area or even the interior of the truck. Either way. I want my standard radio back. It's been too long.

    I'd like some suggestions please.

    Ya....I got nothin'.

Only thing I've heard of as far as any "relocated antenna" would be putting in a CB antenna for a CB radio, and getting a splitter so both radios can use the same antenna

    :notsure:

I never thought of that. I would do it but I really don't like CB radios too much as I feel they look kind of tacky in the interior.

True, depends on how they're mounted. At any rate, you can use a CB antenna and just get a cable with a Motorola connection and hook it straight to your factory radio.

Is it an amplified antenna? Those things are pretty big aren't they?

Not, not amplified. The thicker antennas can be pretty big, or you can get the whips, which are pretty skinny.

Oh I gotcha. See where I live the antenna needs to be amplified as they are apparently removing radio towers so there are less and less to spread such a wide distance in between.

Had no idea that this existed and found this thread during my search today. Will this only work for FM, or will I be able to pull AM signal as well?

I bought a TuneTrapper to replace my factory antenna. I also needed a Metra adapter.

Unfortunately I don't listen to radio much so I don't have any before/after comparisons on reception. Right now I have it shoved up under the dash on the passenger side; contemplating moving it out to the front bumper area if I'm unhappy with the reception as there's a lot of room up there and you can get reasonable distance between the antenna and metal (which can impede reception).

Although it does work somewhat, cb and am/fm antennas are designed around different sets of frequencies.

Each would do better with their own antennas.

As for the bad reception, check the mounting of the antenna. Clean out any crud. if there's nothing wrong with the existing antenna, look for a new head unit with a better tuner.

I got one of these last October at Walmart as the OEM antenna would not fit under our flat roof carport; it comes with adapter studs that fit the OEM base, I tossed the supplied base and cable into one of my junk drawers--who knows what you might need some day.

It is 13" long--1/9th λ at 100 MHz (the middle of the FM band) but while not an optimal length (29.5" is 1/4 λ) it does work well here i the flatlands of NE Florida. I get good reception of stations from Jacksonville and Daytona. both 50+ miles away; even when its bent backwards at 85 mph.

For $8.97 you cannot go too far wrong...

It should work for all three at the same time. I've been wanting to install a CB antenna in the stock antenna location (to keep the factory look) but use that one antenna for both radios.

    Here's the adapter I found:

Thanks for that, I'm having to go a different direction as I have fiberglass fenders and will be making a snorkel that will end up deleting the factory antenna from its location.

Ya, that was my original plan. But recently, my factory antenna snapped off and I can't get the broken part of the shaft out of the mount. So now I have an excuse to get a new CB antenna and mount it in the bed :D

    OOOoooooo!!!!!!

Let me know how it turns out! I was recently given a pair of 2' CB antennas, so now I'm trying to figure out how I want to mount them (Dual setup? Just 1 in the factory location? I don't know anymore....)

Update. Added fiberglass fenders and stubby is no longer compatible.

    Been relying on iHeartRadio/Android auto.

Switching to a 50 Cal bullet antenna mounted to the hood hinge soon
