It was falling down early on after buying it. I can't remember if it was all time or after my 5k service that I forgot to mention. Anyway I hate going to the dealer because it's pretty much a day affair or ubering around for the day. I try to stay away. So I figured I'd just bring it up at my 10k service.

Well...in between 5k and 10k I installed a light a bar which required drilling holes in the roof. Doing that left metal shavings on the headliner.

At 10k I told them to look. They said I had removed it and reinstalled it incorrectly because they found metal shavings. I asked why if I removed it that it has metal shavings. They danced around the question.

I filed a claim. Explained all that. They put me on old and called me dealer. Got back on with me. Said they value what the dealer says. They said I caused it. Claim denied.

    Here we are.

If I would have in anyway caused the issue, said wouldn't try to warranty it. That's what pissed me off the most. Saying I removed and reinstalled the headliner wrong.

I was the point of using push pins or something. But I feel like those against an airbag might not be the best idea.

Get a can of 3M super 77 adhesive spray, mask off and cover anything you don't want it on and apply to both sides. Wait a few minutes and let it tack up. If there are areas that are too deep, decant the adhesive onto a popsicle stick and try to get it in there before you spray it.

After you're done applying, get a sheet of cardboard large enough to keep flattened pressure on the area (so you don't get ripples on the ragged edge) and wait a few more minutes. I fixed my previous truck's headliner front edge this way. Same fit and finish as the taco, no finished edge.

It works.. If you were in Torrance area, down in LA, I'd help you. We have both adhesives at work, one being the 3M 77 and the other is the upholstery adhesive that is sprayed or rolled on. That stuff stinks. Can always tell when a car has been to an upholstery shop.

Wolf Grip contact cement if you really don't ever want it coming back off again, or 3M makes a spray adhesive for this exact purpose (can't remember the number but not Spray77)--getting it sprayed up in that little opening might be troublesome and messy though. I understand that you'd be pissed at the poor dealer/corporate response, but pretty much any time they can blame something on an owner mod., they will. Shitty, but the way of the world. Again, sorry for your bad experience. Good luck on the solution!

It's 3M 90 you're thinking about. I mentioned 77 because it's the edge, the headliner isn't actually peeling it appears, so not a lot of gravity or weight. If he was doing the entire headliner, the 77 won't work. It's good enough for holding edges together. He has to get enough coverage with it though. Most folks don't apply it properly. It needs to be applied to both sides, same with the 90. I think Home Depot sells the 90 in store, the 77 is found most anywhere.

I remember seeing his stuff at Vatozone before, never used it. Might be easily accessible.

I've used 90 in the past for full headliners. But for my case 77 is the stuff?

I've gotten it to work without issue on at least 6 vehicles for lightly separating edges. Like I mentioned previously, not full headliner and no parabolic shape with low material tension, it would be fine. I just do it in the parking lot at work. I work for an auto manufacturer, LOL. I'm ghetto like that.

The flange molding has enough of a flap to cover the headliner edge? If so, it should be ok. If the damage is more than what we can see and you're not confident spraying the stuff, get the stuff you can brush on with less mess, but brushing doesn't apply the adhesive as evenly. It's really hard to say if you've never done a spot repair before. It can get messy really quick, but then you mentioned having done an entire headliner...
Here's a thought, have you taken it to an upholstery shop and asked them for some assistance on the repair?

Yup, that's the one. You're probably right about the 77 being sufficient, and I like the idea of using a thin applicator rather than just trying to spray it up in there. That stuff gets real messy, real quick and overspray is a nightmare. One more thing I'd mention is not to saturate the liner so much that it leaks through because then it tends to stick to whatever you're temporarily holding it in place with... not fun...

Yeah there is enough of a flap to cover it. I can tuck it in and sometimes it'll last an hour or so then pop out.

It takes a few days to get as bad as the picture though

I was planning on tucking it in, taping it off, and gluing it. Brushing would be easier but I can handle spraying it too. I hope. Haha

Good luck and hopefully you can sort it out. Like Hoonatic said, don't saturate too much. The ~2mm foam behind the fabric will hold the the wet adhesive and let it soak through. Just wait and let it tack up for a minute before joining. Try on a test or scrap piece to get a feel for the flash over rate of the adhesive.

When I did my wrx wagon headliner I did I alone. Thankfully I was able to fit it all perfectly. But holy pain. At one point half of it was wadded up in a glue ball.

90 I don't think works as good as contact cement that most professional upholstery shops uses. I've used both and the contact cement is the way to go. Honestly I like 77 better than 90. Usually seems to hold and last longer. Although 90 work better on speaker carpet
