I don't know where you live but in my state, Louisiana, if a vehicles drivetrain computer or electronics are damaged by water but the vehicle is not totaled it must by law be issued a new title stating it was damaged by water. Basically making it worthless. Run!

As a Service Manager in a Houston new car dealer, for over 40 years. I have seen a lot of Flood damaged vehicles, a lot of cars and trucks that should have been totaled, slip threw the cracks to disreputable body shops are repaired and resold, All the advice you have been given above is exactly right. Get your down payment back, and forget you ever saw this truck, if its been in water high enough that the seat frames are rusty, that means there has been water in the floor, its easy to see.

Update. seller just called, said he put his scanner on it and the indication was a bad ABS? EBS? He says that's the computer, located near the bottom of the car, just like where he said the Starter was located.

Thanks to all who took the time to post. I knew it, but I kept trying to justify. Now I am walking away with no regrets.
    Thanks again.

Good decision! I know it's not what you want to hear cause you felt it was a good deal, but you won't regret not buying it when you find the next good deal on a car that won't give you trouble in the long run. Don't want to learn the hard way.

You have to admit, there is a certain irony in a Service Manager calling himself Lucifer.

If you take it to Toyota for warranty work and they find any remote trace of that water damage, you can kiss that warranty goodbye! Toyota will run from repairs on that truck faster than you should from buying it.
