My dealer wants $1600 for a pro grille

A DCH dealership laughed at me when I went in and said I'd get my TRDOR 4x4 for invoice. He said I'd never get close and "in fact we are going to be adding market adjustments to all Tacomas soon".

Guess he was right on the market adjustment thing, but was sure wrong on the price I'd buy for.

In social, look to the San Diego area dealerships for straight deals before you look elsewhere. A half day of travel and a few bucks for gas was well worth it to get away from LA area dealerships.

 

I have a friend that lives in Norcal. He was telling me that the markup on the Taco's up there are around $10k JUST for the "market price". This absolutely ludicrous but whatever, it's California.

I'd simply contact a Toyota dealer out of state but somewhat close and get a price from them, see if the local dealer will match and if not, take a trip...

Ive been looking for my taco in the socal LA area, my best advise is don't even bother. Same BS like that everywhere around here and all you hear is "Come back tomorrow it'll be gone by then, they sell fast, we don't need to sell them at invoice" Ima buy one at invoice and drive back to those dealerships lol

That may have been the dealer that told me if I wanted to order an OR 6MT it would be marked up $15k. I didn't even reply to that.

I am assuming that price is $400 for the grill parts and $1200 for labor to install it.

They used to call "market value" "ADP" which stood for additional dealer profit. I guess that terminology seemed greedy so they changed it to a more neutral sounding term.

All of the items listed under Dealer Installed Options are excessively priced by several times. They are basically adding $10 grand to the price of the truck in exchange for maybe $1500-2000 worth of parts and labor.

By the way, I'm clueless about what Theft Etch Protection is.

It is additional dealer profit. They etch the very number into the windows. Complete ripoff.

So, in other words, this dealer might as well have simply written on the window sticker, under the MSRP price of the truck: Give us an additional $10,000 for no particular reason.
