So, I've bee trying to sell my sleeping/storage platform for a while now on CL and I am realizing that to make it happen I may need to include my cap as well.
My cap is a leer 180XL with a Thule rack/fairing. It has flip up windows and all locks work etc. How much should I expect to get for it? Is anyone on here interested in buying the cap and platform as a package?

My trip starts on the 17th. Going to see family in Queens in NYC. Then going to Lake Placid on the 19th. Then heading to Burlington after that. Its going to be a camping/tourist trip. Jut me. Im not staying in any hotels.

 

I think with the platform, it's hard for people to wrap their head around that it cost that much in material alone. At least that's the case with me. I 100% believe you, but personally I wouldn't spend that much to buy something second hand. No offense intended, just an outsiders view.

Yeah, that's a fair assessment. I over engineered it a bit to help weigh the bed down for winter driving. I drive to NH/VT/ME almost every weekend in the winter and conditions can be dicey at best. Any idea what I could get for the Leer 180XL by it self? These specific caps seem hard to come by second hand

 

To be honest, I have no idea. All depends on the condition, features, etc. Also depends how patient you are. I sold an ARE Z series cap for a short bed with a carpeted interior for $1,000 about a year ago. The struggle for you is that mid rise caps are a little less popular IMO. If the cap is in good condition, I'd say anywhere from $1,000-$1,500 for the cap/platform is fair.

If you've got a legit offer of $1500 and you really want to sell, you should take that if you're ok with the amount.

 

What does your average cap weigh? (without roof racks)

 

Mine weighs probably 80-100 lbs. It's really not too bad.
