Got to take a ride along with the SB City Fire Chief on Saturday morning, this is the view from the top of West Camino toward Cachuma... Pretty gnarly up there

Yikes! That was a doozy. I still remember the old painted cave fire. I'm bummed the camp I went to at Cachuma for 6th grade burnt down. RIP.

Hey all, I'm going to be moving to the Lompoc area in the next few weeks. Just wanted to stop in and see who all is in the area. Looking forward to moving and getting outdoors in the area. Any advice for a newbie regarding neighborhoods, activities, etc. would be dope.

There are a few of us up in Lompoc. Do you have a place lined up? I'm in Vandenberg Village. Is it just you or a family?

No place lined up just yet. I've looked online at a bunch of listings though. Just me moving, no family.

Cool. Avoid near the high school is what I've been told. The south side of town is nice. I've met people from all parts, so it depends on what you're looking for. For fun there are a few bars: Wicked Shamrock is a locals dive, Jaspers is fun with a DJ on weekend nights, Native Tongue is a good happy hour spot and Hoptions (Solvang Brew) is good. I'm personally not a fan of their beer. If you like the outdoors, it's a great area with plenty of hiking trails nearby. Buellton, Solvang and Santa Ynez are home to more great restaurants, vineyards for wine tasting and more hiking. There isn't any offroading in Lompoc though, unless you risk cruising the river bed. I've been here since late 2014 and enjoy it!

Anthony and I are heading up to MJT Saturday, meeting there around 1 if anyone else wants to join. Another taco and a 4runner will be joining as well, mostly stock.

Hello! I lived in Lompoc for most of my life. Moved from Texas when I was little so the old man could work on the shuttle project that never happened. Like @Motomon said, the south side is nice and avoid the high school. 90% of the people on probation and cause problems live inside a square in the center of town. Stay west of O st, north of north ave, east of A st and south of Ocean ave if you can. Rentals are tight right now up here so if you see something decent jump on it! Its really a nice little town contrary to what some say.

Hmm that depends on your idea of decent shape. I will get some pics tomorrow. Clearing out some stuff I dont use. Also have a 7'2" surfboard bag (free) and a cycle ops fluid trainer ($100 obo), and then a 36' ridgid pipe wrench (asking $45)

Take lots of photos and post up. Would like to get up there at some point soon. Curious how hammered the trail is after all the rain we had this year.

Should have sliders and skids on toward end of next month.

Didn't take any photos as usual, but we had a fun run up MJT! The stock 4runner had to change a tire, and had a dent or two on the running boards, but all good! The trail's in decent shape, just really dry back there.

Solid. Miller is always a good time. Except the time I grenaded my rear diff ( shot the spider gears through the housing!)and had to leave the truck down in the meadow at the bottom of Miller in a bush. Came back 3 days later with a spare 3rd member and some Jb weld and pennies to plug the hole. Drove her out. :turtleride:
