Yeah, it's about a 30-35 cent difference between 87 and 93, so 20 gallons a tank is about $6 or so.

My mileage is similar to his (14 city/18 hwy). I do have a 2" lift and slightly larger tires. But the mileage is not impressive. That said, it's a truck so I didn't expect 20+mpg.

Lucky you. It's about 60 cents more on average for 93 here.

literally every company does it with their engines. tuning the same block for different applications. you wouldn't want the hemi out of a charger in your ram.

Except in that case the Ram is the vehicle getting more torque and HP, whereas we dont.

except the hemi in the ram has a longer stroke for a reason. your not taking it up to 280kph at redline

I just looked up the 5.7, did not figure they were different engines altogether, that would be a bad comparison in this case.

The specs on my 2018 Tacoma says it has an 11.8:1 compression ratio. The only way to run regular in an engine of this compression ratio is to use a cam with a huge overlap (which would NEVER pass emission testing) or retard the crap out of the timing and use a knock detector which further retards the timing when it senses a knock.

The engine design is fine. It's being restricted by the lack of timing advance which would require premium fuel.
