Any battery shop should be able to crimp cables to length for you too. They should also be able to look at what you have and determine the gauge as well. Depending on how long you end up getting, you may want to consider upsizing the cable gauge. I would also suggest for ease of installation that you get fine stranded wires, something like welding cables.

I only need maybe 6 feet, I'm only moving it up to the grill support. But I'm really not in a hurry, the zip ties are doing just fine right now.

I know a few of you guys have camped at Lake Cle Elum a few times, any suggestions for good campsites I can just pull up to and camp out on Saturday? The people I'm meeting on Sunday want to start up towards Gallagher by 9 so I want to get as close as possible so I don't have to get up at the butt crack of dawn too.

There's 3 sites within about 200 yards of the start of the lower trail. One is actually about 100 yards up the trail. I've stayed at that one a couple times.

There are a couple spots you can pull down to the lake bed and camp, depending on the water level now. It's going down so I think you can get down there far enough now. Also past the lake there is dispersed camping along the river

Google maps the intersection of NF 4308 and NF 4309. I would be up there camping myself this weekend but plans changed. You will lose cell signal about Roslyn or so but if you have directions, the GPS on your phone will still take you there. The camp sites there have ample places to avoid others. My step brother is supposed to be up there this weekend. As long as you are going that far up, get gas at the Shell gas station as you come up off the freeway.

Prepare for incoming barrage of stupid questions.

    1. Do you 5100 users run the boots on the rear shocks? I don't see much purpose to them, and they get all bunched up & look ridiculous when it's compressed sitting on the ground.

    2. I don't like this last little inch or cable being exposed. Too much direct sun & debris while off road, and the sleeve won't roll up any further. Does anyone else have this concern? After a while, that portion of the cable will be the weakest link on the winch. IMG_4408.jpg

My shock boots in the rear bunch up, and I'm ready to cut them off. I wouldn't worry about that last bit of rope.

    2. Use electrical tape to cover it. That will make it ghetto fabulous. If that isn't right for you, look into prolinks. Instead of a hook, it requires you have a shackle to hook on, but pulling line in all the way leaves only the prolink exposed, and none of the winch line

From having to rely on wire and rope to keep people safe for there life and mine. The hard brake with your hook will deteriorate your line. Rope doesnt have as much memory as wire thats a good thing. Sun light and weather do damage the shit out of it.

Think about copper wire and the malubilaty, when it gets kinked then straightened over and over what happens.

As far as your shocks, the boots keep dust and mud off the seal, alot like how axle seal works.

Your truck is earning its keep by the way, and looking good.
