I agree. But someone else had asked how the part could break all by itself. I have less than 5k miles on my truck, and it has the same cover. Mine may be broken too for all I know.. I've never had the cover off.

    Surprising that it's only $5.

Especially since there is little to no load bearing on it.

I have no words for your stupidity. I'm glad you finally see what everyone else has been talking about this entire time. After you tried to point out that I was looking at the wrong part twice, then you pretend like you knew what was wrong the whole time???

Mine was broken with less than 1,000 miles and 3 months.
Almost through away the piece as I thought it was just a piece off one of the kid's toys.
Never told the dealership about it though.
Anyone get it replaced under warranty yet?

Yes, I just got back from the dealer and they replaced it for free. At first they wanted to charge me $72. When I said "you mean it is not covered by the warranty" the service writer said she would check with the service manager. Apparently, he said do it at no charge.
Anyone have any idea on why these break. I'm sure mine will break again unless I can do something to prevent it.
