When I'm not on it hard, I usually keep my 4.0 around 2000-2500 rpms. Whenever I upshift and I'm accellerating, I always try to leave myself at LEAST at 1500 rpms in the new gear. Anything below that is lugging the motor.

3.5 to 4K shifts. It's just too much fun:)
I also shred the trails. Like a classy hooker, Ima take care of it. Wax it and love it. But it doesn't mean I'm not gonna grab on and tear it's ass up.

I have a 2nd gen 5spd and 6spd and I drive the shit out of both of them. There isn't a day that I don't exceed 4500rpms at some point. I live in the hill country though so sometimes you need to downshift and get on it to get moving

I drive mine hard, I mean I have the sport after all. Also above 4k is where the power kicks in so how could I not.

The exhaust note is lacking but it makes it so I feel like I can rev it more in urban and then it's not too loud in nature.

I had a 2.7L MT 2nd gen and now a 3.5L MT 3rd gen. You have to be equally assertive with the gas pedal to get them going. Once you're over 3k RPM, acceleration starts to happen. On the 2.7, this seems to be an inherent trait of the powertrain. On the 3.5 I suspect it's the tuning intended keep EPA happy. I think of it as reverse-Dieselgate. The software robs the owner, not the environment. This means I spend some quality time at and above 4k RPM.

Wait.. what? No way man, I'm told the 4.0 is a fire breathing, stump pulling torque monster of a "proper truck motor". LS kinda monster. Diesel territory.

You better go back and check with the 2nd gen sub forum, ask about their ROE when in here.

Meanwhile, I DO wish I had more low end in my 2GR.. :anonymous:

It's far from a fire breathing monster. My Silverado 5.3 had WAYYY more power. It's a truck. If you want to go fast get a Porsche.
