No they do HORRIBLY on washboards. Lol. I know from personal experience.

The Bilsteins have a bad track record on these trucks also so the fact they busted them quickly and easily in no way surprises me. Hitachi's that used to b used on the 3rd gens, or still are, idk, forget about it. Lol.

From what I read here about that road. Is it eats a lot of shocks. I would like to see a TRD Pro go on the same road.

If that is the case then it sounds like a modified or upgraded over basic stock factory options but still factory offroading vehicle needs to hit that road and bone stock has no legitimate business going through it.

The initial post and title of this thread are wrong. It was pointed out to the OP but he never bothered to fix it.

    Then its not Toyota's fault.
    It's Bilstein.

Any off road shock will overheat and suffer catastrophic damage if subjected to long extended periods of high speed wash board roads !!!

That same trail 20 plus years ago destroyed a Rancho RS9000 shock on my Jeep . I had them set on #5 setting and it overheated them

When I felt that shock let go i pulled off the trail and the r/rear shock was destroyed . All others were so hot you couldn't touch them without risk of burning your hand . I even had the tires set at trail pressure which was 15lbs and speed was maybe 20 - 25 mph

An unusually high amount of pinstriping.
Usually I stay out of these debates, but something seams a little strange. Supposedly both rear shocks on the Tacoma had failed and melted with only 11 miles in????? I just drove 63 miles today on logging roads averaging 30 MPH and all of my shocks look fine. In the year that I have had the truck, I have put just over 30,000 miles on it with ruffly 8,000 to 9,000 miles on logging roads. All with the stock shocks. I don't want to accuse them of rigging the test, but it dose make me scratch my head. Also why a 2017 Ridgeline but a 2016 Tacoma? How many miles were on the shocks to begin with? Personally I think the Ridgeline is a good SUV... Sorry truck, but to me something like this almost seams set up to make it look good in an area that people have be criticizing it.

I forgot about the Titan, but your right. Today I checked the shocks when I hit pavement. After 31 miles on logging roads with an average speed of around 25 to 30 mph, the boots were cold.

I'll take any logging road over that road in Death Valley. You gotta drive it to believe it.

Funny I had a 2011 taco sport 2wd 4d LB and one of my trd shocks did that bon that same road, Toyota of el cajon took care of it in the santee branch but I had literally the exact same thing happened to me. And I still would get the taco over the honda. Looking at the 18s if they ever get here

Let's just sum up the thread. OP is a TROLL. Test was not an acceptable comparison when using a brand new truck versus two trucks that had miles on them already. Ridgeline is even uglier than a Pontiac Aztec.

In a year, drive that Ridgeline on the same road and see what the shocks look like.

All he had to do was show the how the shocks looked, after driving the Truck the other direction to get back from where they started. I'm sure they weren't just like new anymore.
