My 07 tacoma volume on my radio seems weak? To be at a reasonable volume it has to be turned up to like 30.?? Is this normal or could my amp be bad?

I bought this transmitter that plugs into the back of my radio into the CD changer port. Then I bought a Bluetooth thing that plugs into my cigarette lighter and essentially making my truck wireless now. But i have to turn my radio up all the way to doing any jamming lol

Install a small plug / play amp that fits behind the head unit. That's what i did on my 2015.

That would be ok, but my factory speakers suck. One in the headliner doesn't work. Volume loss usually is because of using an aux cord, and I use a decent one.

Just FYI, bought the same thing back in February, had it on 300m, uninstalled because it would only play from 1 of 4 speakers. Also had problems with static. TBH, the CD/MP3 mod actually worked better with the stock radio, soldered two wires to the cd output on the main board and a third wire as a ground. Got a pack of 3 universal 3 prong RadioShack 3.5mm jacks and attached the jack in a hid away place. As long as you have good connections and a good ground, it lasted a lot longer than that plug and play option. I think the board was fried because the led wouldn't even turn on. I'm gonna open it up and take a look at what went bad when I get back. I'm also going to take a look and see if I can return it.

Got a link to what you installed? Do you have to cut/splice into the harness?

My 2012 base/non JBL audio is horrible-- so bad that I am actually considering upgrading. All the cars I have owned the last 15 years or so have had decent enough audio systems, so I never felt the need to go aftermarket... until the Tacoma, LOL

I have that on my 2007 TRD and it's awesome ! I was lookin at spending close to 300 on a new radio and then I found this little thing. It can be installed in less then 10 minutes. I've had it for 4 months and I've had no issues. I think it was like 25 bucks on Amazon :)

That's funny, because I'm about to pull the trigger on $300 HU, wire harnesses, etc. I think Ill give this a shot.

One question, though: when you unplug the CD changer to use this adapter, does it kill the power to the CD changer as well???

I can't figure out why, but every time I put the key in the ignition, my CD changer goes through a 2 minute cycling process, and it's annoying as hell! I'm thinking if I have to unplug it to use this adapter, I'll be fixing 2 problems at the same time.

With mine there was a plug in on the back of the radio for a external CD changer. I can still play CDs with mine also I just switch to (on mine cd4) and it plays perfectly.

Now I also had from my previous car a Bluetooth adapter that plugged into my cigarette lighter and then a aux cord from the adapter to the radio that had a aux port on the face of it of the radio This allowed me to link my phone to my radio wirelessly.

Using the same Bluetooth adapter I just plugged the adapter from the back of my radio to the little Bluetooth adapter and thus making my truck Bluetooth. It worked great!

Only down side was when the radio volume was maxed out at 62 it was like it was set on 30.

You ever have a problem with that adapter? I had the same, worked great. Then one day it just stopped working. Bought a new one recently, seems to be getting power but nothing happens when I hit the Disc button. Safe to assume it’s not the adapter, but the Externals CD changer power behind the head unit?
