I know they have been out for a long time, but what the deal with them? Do they work with Directv? How about the SlingCatcher? Does it interfere with watching live TV? The technology is pretty slick. It is supposed to coming to the Android OS platform real soon. Thanks.:)

I havent been wondering about the slingplayer. But I have looked at the slingbox before. Just never went through with it. I need some more info on it first. Maybe first hand experience from someone.

I got one for a christmas present a couple years ago. At the time I wasn't sure what to do with it, but I've grown to like it a lot now. The box hooks up to your tv or cable box, so it doesn't matter if you have cable or sat. tv. It also hooks up to your computer modem, and from there you can access your tv stations from anywhere i the world as long as you have internet. Slingplayer is a software program you need to buy to use the Slingbox with your cell phone, if you have a wireless phone like a Blackberry or something you can watch tv on it. There's also a few different programs you can download and install on your home computer that let you record directly off your slingbox, sort of like having Tivo or a DVR. Not as advanced as those, but still lets you record television directly to your computer.

I work for a cable provider, we have a sling box setup in each community so we can login and test their channels. works like a charm all the time.

sweet. I may have to look into it more because cable prices are outrageous now days. Although I could climb the telephone pole and hook up everyone on the streets cable.. but that would be illegal

    Hi
there's a better product than the slingbox, Hava product, It just change it's name to monsoon something. I just bought it and send it off to my brother in South Africa. It conects through his router, you can connect an external hardrive to it and record your shows. I'm trying to watch rugby chanels and somes other sports besides ESPN stuff, I know on the slingbox you have to hardwire it to your router or you need additional goodies like the slingcatcher etc. With the Hava product everyting is included. HD bla bla bla
attached the link to their website http://www.monsoonmultimedia.com/

I've read that the SlingBox creates a delay when changing channels watching live TV, is that true?

There's a delay when you're using your phone, but at home with the actual tv there's no noticable difference.
