I'm really glad you clarified that Gadget... :)
The 4.0 people are obviously getting good results with the controller. I had mistakenly assumed the 2.7 had the same controls and it would do the same for mine.

When I can find time off of work, I'll take the 60 mph steady state long term fuel trim readings and let you know. Could you refresh my memory again as to the procedure? I want to make sure I do the test right so the information is accurate.

When we look to see how dialed in an aftermarket air intake is I look for three data points.

    1. Check the long term fuel trim at a steady 60 MPH on flat ground.

    2. Come to a stop and let it idle in neutral for 5 minutes and check the long term fuel trim.

    3. Check the AFR at WOT and max RPM.

We do this with the stock intake and then the aftermarket one. Have to do the stock one as well which should always be very close to ZERO long term and AFR at WOT and max RPM is normally around 10.5:1 stock.

If things a whacked on the stock intake test we look to figure why. Could be a bad or dirty MAF sensor or something like that. Need to get good accurate data for a base line. This ensures we are not just tuning around some problem that may not be there on the next truck.

Then we do a road tune with the stock intake and the aftermarket one and get a good map working. Always try to do more than one truck to look for consistency as well before we publish a calibration map.

Fixing all the induced MAF sensor errors caused by aftermarket air intakes is very important and it is not just WOT dyno runs that do that.

    Hi Guys,

Just to elaborate a bit on when the Open loop status is occuring on a 4.0 V6.

Take a look at the attached graph (from one of my tuning session) i've already send in another thread. You'll have a good idea of the open and close loop area and where the 2 modes can happen. Hope it can help.

Thanks for the info Gadget!

So far, the CEL has not come on after resetting it and making some minor adjustments to the MAF calibrator! After we've finished "closed loop" tuning, we'll put the truck back on the dyno and tune the "open loop."

I know this is an old thread. But since I'm searching for info on the URD MAF Calibrator I found this.

My local Dyno Jet posted my V6 4.0L (with K&N CAI and Spintech Muffler) at 219 HP at the wheels.

Then an increase of 16HP when I added Long Tube Headers.
