Sandy, try looking at the Palomino Real lite Mini 178RL. It is the same basic layout as the RPOD/Hummingbirds but it has a much larger bathroom. It is flat on the rear of the camper so the kitchen has much more cabinet space plus cloths storage. The unit has very large windows all the way around and the window we liked most was at the front of the unit. We went and looked at one side by side with the RPOD 179 and the difference is huge. The dry weight is 3290, hitch weight is 425, length is 21'4". It is wider since it sets over the wheels so the inside of the unit is not quite as cramped feeling

The rpod bathroom is extremely cramped and there is a slight step up. I can see where it could present difficulties for some. The bed width bothered me. At just under 6ft my head would touch one wall while my feet were against the other. I would always end up sleeping at an angle.

It's nice that you had the option to rent one prior to purchasing.

I nearly bought the Palomini with bunks across the back of the trailer. I think it's the 179BHS. Ended up with the Wolf Pup instead because I was able to get a better deal on it.IMG_0479.jpg

We have a Starcraft Satellite. Same as the Hummingbird. Absolutely love it ! My Taco tows it like it is barely there. We camp about every other weekend when its nice out ( not winter ). I have no desire to go for anything bigger.

There's a lot of short lightweight trailers available, difficult to find the perfect one. I bought a Rpod 178 but the rear porch was sooooo dang long. The rear stabilizer jacks dragged on my steep driveway and it was the Hood River edition with a lift kit and 15" wheels. That long rear porch just won't cut it offroading. Had a lot of nice features though, the huge U-shaped dinette was nice.

I bought a 2017 Winnebago 1706fb, I think I'll stick with this one. 19'2", 2980 dry, 31g fresh tank, Winnebago didn't put the jackass tankless water heater on this one, traditional 6g hot water tank. 26g grey tank, 20g black. It's a couples trailer only, trying to sleep a third would be uncomfortable trying to use the dinette.

It's an offroad trailer once I put a 4" lift on it. 10 inches of ground clearance after the lift, short rear porch. Has the huge 2-door Dometic 6.0 cubic foot fridge/freezer. A nice feature is the furnace is ducted into the bathroom. Dual axles, 14" wheels, has big passthrough storage doors.

Two 30lb LP tanks can be put on it, and dual batteries. Has two sinks, I didn't like the Rpod single sink, that's a pain. Rpod smaller fridge/freezer and single door.

The big deal was the long rear porch on the Rpod, that's a show-stopper for offroading.

I had to put a 4" lift kit on it, that was $1000 parts/labor, so that has to be taken into consideration. It was not going offroad stock, the drain hose was only 6" ground clearance.

I like that it can be yanked into the boonies and left there as a base camp for a long time. 31g fresh tank, huge two door fridge/freezer, two 30lb LP tanks, two sinks, 3-burner stove and oven. Good size bathroom with furnace heat ducted into it, enclosed and insulated underbelly to protect the tanks. Has good size windows also, wish it had fore and aft opening windows for ventilation and visibility.

We camped next to some yuppies that had one of these this past summer. I really liked the look of them. Not big on the red color , but sure would make it easy to find , lol. Oh and yeah they were hauling it with a BMW SUV , lol

What were you camping in? If you were camping next to a BMW SUV I don't think much of your opinion of anything outdoors related.

We were on our honeymoon at Bushkill Falls PA. Dont get me wrong. I liked the camper ( not the red color ). I checked them out online that night. We have a Starcraft Satellite. We bought the Satellite on a whim really. We were looking for something smaller and found the Satellite at the dealership. Ended up really liking it. But yeah they were towing theirs with a BMW, lol

I had to buy the Micro Minnie 1706fb off of Craigslist, red was available nothing lighter color. I wish it had fore and aft windows. The Rpod had an aft window, didn't open but nice for visibility. I had a Trailmanor 2619 with fore and aft louvered opening windows, the thing had eleven windows total when opened up. Trouble with the Trailmanor was no outside storage and couldn't access the interior when closed, also didn't have a black tank. The toilet was a recirculating with 6 gallon capacity. There is no such thing as the perfect trailer.

I do wish the Satellite had more outside storage. I looked into putting a storage box on the back , but I would have to have a heavier duty bumper welded on it.

Googled the Satellite, love the huge U dinette, that's a big deal. 32g fresh tank, that's a big deal. Out in the boonies you need a big fresh tank and big holding tanks. Enclosed and insulated underbelly is a big deal also.
