I seriously doubt Toyota wants to build engines like this (Atkinson) but they're being forced to by the Fing green agenda. It'd be nice if the politicians would just but out and let the car companies build the products people want to buy. I know, not gonna happen.

If they did we'd be back to cheap little trucks with reliable car motors just like we had in the 80's and early 90's. You guys wanting full size truck performance from a mid size are shopping the wrong market.

You want to buy a truck with a big motor and big motor performance, buy a Tundra.

I have a 4 banger with the 5 speed manual. Only has 4500 miles on it. One small problem is the tachometer. It runs up smooth, but drops back down in increments.
I can't say that it bothers me. I don't sweat the small stuff. I also noticed a tiny/Minuscule bit of seepage from my rear diff. I'll have the dealer check that out during my 5000 Toyota care visit.

Even with these 2 very small issues...I LOVE my new Tacoma...

Check with Orkin, I see a ton of their AC 4 bangers running the streets or parked in front of people's homes; not broken down on the side of the road.

They should be able to give you an idea after a year of fleet use.

I'm confused, you're saying that the politicians meddling in the car biz has actually improved the quality of the products we buy? Hmmm, I've yet to see any evidence of that

    Let me help you.....

If manufacturer's built what we wanted.....

Cheap, simple, reliable little trucks that were decent on gas. Quality was great because there was nothing as far as options / fancy electronics to go wrong.

Well maybe, but I tend to think people want bells, whistles and bling, oh I almost forgot, infotainment too. I had to order my cheap, reliable SR, and it took 4 months to get it.

If you ever owned an 86 or 91 stripper truck like I did for less than 12k you might think otherwise.

They were a lot of fun in a little reliable size.

Mine's been flawless... Many major companies around here (NY) use the utility pack 4x4's as abuse-proof work trucks.

Huge throttle delay does not inspire confidence. The engine was also gutless with ECT on. Again that was my general impressions on the truck upon the initial release.

Brother, it's true as far as I'm concerned. I know the numbers say one thing... but in my side by side drive comparison with a co workers truck, my butt dyno says somethings wrong with that 6 or toyota is trolling fools. But maybe my butt is lying to me. I've got my eye on it. Seems shady.
