17 or 18in wheels?

Hey guys, I'm thinking about doing a 6" lift on my truck and was wondering if I should do 17's or 18's?I was also curious about if any of you have a 6" lift and if so what set up you guys are running.

17s on mine now but I want to do 20s eventually.

 

16's...then again I prefer the look of a bigger sidewall on the tire. It just looks more rugged. Do whatever you like best.

I just did a 6" DB and I went with 17's. KMC XD 132 w/ -12 offset and 4.53 BS. Tires are 315/70/17. I haven't even had time to get good pics of it but I snapped these out in the garage real quick (just got it done on Friday). Sorry for the quality and dust.. I live on some land outside of town, so it's dirt roads to the house when I leave the blacktop. So, as usual, it's dusty but you get the idea. I went with RC kit and 5100s on all 4. Had to use the rear blocks that come with it for now because all pro took forever to get my expos to me (they arrived the day after the lift, lol). I'll be throwing them on soon. Most DB makers are going to say 17 or bigger and I have seen some folks use 16's with spacers etc. I think 17's are fine, personally.

16"! It will give you more tire sidewall (good for airing down and rim protection). IMO looks way better too.

 

I went 18s cause I wanted a deep dish wheel... pretty cool sizes available like 275s and 325s which are tall 33s, like 33.4"

 

16s on my 6 inch lift with 315-75-16 destination MT tires.

 

it truthfully depends on what lift you get. Most DB lifts require 18s. I have a 6 inch fabtech and can use 17s. Personally I prefer the 17s over 18s. my 315s fit way better that way. 18s are more for show I think, but then again a 6 inch lift all together is usually for show.

So those leafs you got will eliminate the need for the 4 inch block in the back? Part number and shim number if you don't mind?

 

They're just AP expos (4505T-AP-3EX), and I'm going to throw a 1" block under. Don't have the shims, so can't provide a number. My cousin has an off road shop and will use what's needed. I'll try to remember to let you know what we end up doing under there. I'd like to have some black made that have the correct taper built in, but we'll see.

Yeah, I suppose with the 6" lift he's not planning to see too much off-road, but ya never know.
