Yeah, you are right about the hp part. Controlling axle wrap is tough with heavy weight and strong torque. My Mustangs were set at 4 deg nose down to control weak power. When I stepped up to about 550 rwhp, I needed to positively control axle wrap. I used a ladder bar from the diff housing to the center of gravity of the car (under the tail shaft of the transmission).

2017 sr5 DCLB, mine was howling loudly when feathering the gas at 50-60mph. Noticed it on day 2. Also the gas pedal feels like a tuning fork. They replaced the rear diff with just 200 miles on it. Howling improved but its still there at 53-57mph. Vibrations improved. Still not happy, took it back. All there sr5 longbeds on the dealers lot do the same . There they are, the dealer knows there bad, but still for sale.

20K miles now and no vibes or howling. Truck is lifted now so driveline angles have changed and still no issues to report.

7k - Had howling at 55-60mph till I lifted and put on 33" Cooper ST Maxx's. Now all I hear is the tires, howling fixed.

My 2017 dclb trd or with only 6,000 miles has been in the shop for three weeks now. It has all the bad drivetrain issues often discussed and more. It's downright dangerous to drive at times. Lurching, lugging, hard downshifts making braking a challenge. The dealer had it for a week doing testing under Toyota's direction. Last I heard they had a new transmission delivered and they were beginning the install process.

It has the lower control arm howl as well.

Wow, good luck bro, hope they fix your rig soon. I've only got around 2K miles on my 2017 DCLB, no issues so far...knock on wood!

Wow someone brought this thread back to life.

My only issue is the howling. Which is way worse after they replaced my diff :frusty:

Should have kept my mouth shut.

After they replaced the diff and could hear the howl immediately (as apposed to the 2k mile it took in the first diff) they said the howl was normal for the long bed.

Toyota said they'd send out another engineer to check it out next time I bring the truck in.
