I bent my stock long one. I never thought that would be a bad thing to have a long one.

Reception was definetly affected, but at raush the stock one almost got broken off a few times. Reception is still a solid 3/10 so its pretty much not noticeable

Did you get your CV taken care of?

The ditch brackets are what require trimming, not the lights. I've got the CaliRaised brackets, side projecting pods, and their harness on my truck. The lights are very nice. The harness is questionable but workable. I had to modify it to make it work. I, also, had to modify the brackets to be able to use all the bolt holes and make them fit better. The powder coat was poor quality, and I had to cut on them to make them work, so I hit them with bed liner spray. I'm planning on doing one more modification to the brackets to make them better, but not sure when as I have to remove them from the truck.

If you go with a ditch light bracket that bolts to the hood hinge instead of the fender, you may not have to do any cowl trimming.

I have a really small antenna *blush, and the only channel that I get worse reception on is the one of the few channels that I actually listen to. DC101.

I had a garden for a few years in NM, so my sowing skills are on point. I can't sew, though.

My gut agrees with your gut on buying brand name. However, I have not experience with Toyo tires.

There was someone that posted maybe a month ago in the 'what you've done to your 2nd gen' thread that sewed up a light bar cover. I believe he was out in CA, but maybe you could work out a deal with him. I'll take a look in a bit to see if I can find his post.

I also saw several trashed tires on my off roading adventure and at the lower price ripping one open might not be as painful

Edit* i have the same toyos on my truck. They lasted 60k miles and i love them but...
