Weld a thick washer over the top of that sleeve, then weld a nut over the hole in the washer, then find a long ass bolt that can go down to the input shaft and make a puller. Tighten the bolt down until the collar pops off. That collar is for a dual case setup so you won't need it anymore.

Kroil is the best you can buy.

I use a 50/50 mix of acetone and dollar store ATF which is a lot cheaper per volume and proven to significantly reduce the amount of torque needed to remove torqued or rusted on parts.

Back on topic, looks like you got a solution OP!

That collar is pounded onto the splines and submerged in gear oil, kroil and penetrating oil won't do anything. You have to press it off or remove it with an air chisel. Making a puller is the way to do it with the lowest chance of Carnage.

Agreed - that's a slick way of doing it. Just throwing out the info on my favorite penetrating oil.

So I've got the transmission put in, however I can't shift gears. the transmissions in gear, but it feels like there's a little too much play in the shifter. Everything's hooked up besides the front drive shaft, and there's no oil in the transmission. I just bled the clutch and it appears to be working. My fear is that I made a mistake reinstalling the two transmission housings. There are three levers that change between gears on the transmission. is there a special way to reinstall the two housings? Or am I missing something. Any help would be greatly appreciated A8150533-0A9C-4851-842C-0FA6FB307C3E_zps_6d217e1ee58f89a696a49480ffe44d544ebd1f49.jpg

Well I went and messed around with my bad transmission and the housing from the previous owner. And figured out my problem. Seems like I wasn't careful enough when installing the two housings. Seems like the easiest way to ensure everything goes together correctly, is to actually use your hand to guide everything in place. Gonna go grab another rack of beer and start over...
