    there is no need to take the Dakars apart to do this mod....ive had this done for 2 years now and its quiet as can be. only issue i had was the zip ties broke over time....reinstalled new ones..done and done. takes literally 2 minutes. u do need to raise the back end off the ground so the springs arent under load so you can slip those zip ties through the leaf though.

    its a more permanent solution no doubt...but it envolves removing the leaf packs from the vehicle....thats alot more than just "an extra step" imo. to do a simple ziptie mod, the leafs stay in place. at any rate.....both ways work...its just a matter of how much work you want to do to achieve the same result.

    I did mine as a squeak prevention before installing the leaf pack. When it degrades I'll just add zip ties back in. Some of the inner tubes are already coming apart within a year's time (specifically the ones at the "military wrap"). The others are holding together nicely.

    There's no way I would've taken them off just to add the rubber, if the springs had already been on the truck. I'll be doing it just like you in the future when it's needed.
