Just picked up a 2013 ARE V series topper for my regular cab for 250, and deciding what I should do in terms of paint. I could either leave it white (looks better than I originally thought it would and faintly reminds me of the old FJ), paint match it for 150-200, or Linex it for 250. What do you guys think? I could also really use the cash on some sliders as well which will have to wait if I decide to get it painted.

I would definatly paint it now. To me it looks like it does not belong on your truck. But, if you think it looks ok :) well that's what matters. Paint it !!!!

Nice find. Obviously, it's your truck, you can do what ever you want. Personally, I would hold off painting and use the funds for other mods. I don't think it looks that bad. You can always paint it.

Ok I came back to look at at it again and...while I would still paint it. 1. It does not look that bad on there . 2. If your going to use your truck off road the sliders are a must!

I'd paint it now, otherwise you never will. Once you get it color matched, you'll be extremely happy you did! Even if it's a black rattle can job for $30, it'll look a lot better than the white.

Yeah I took my truck on some pretty rough trails for the first time this weekend and killed my running boards. Had to take em off luckily didn't get bent into the paint

I always thought the white tops on the FJs we're fugly. Maybe if they came off it would be different. Color match that thing!!

Or get a grey Softopper

I agree with sliders first, that way if someone opens a door and hits your truck in a parking lot, you wont be having to paint another part.

    EDIT:

Maybe get black sliders, and do a cheap black spray paint until you can legit paint it like someone else mentioned?

Soft topper was an option but couldn't pass up the hard shell for 250. Hmm seems like sliders might be the play.

I think the white topper gives it a utilitarian work-truck look.
