because I'm truthfully disgusted by what I see Toyota has become and by extension a lot of the people that must be buying them. _However_ most of the folks on here seem pretty cool and it's therapeutic to vent, so take me as I am or not, I'm cool with it either way.

actually, as one poster way back in this thread said "vote with your dollars". If their customers keep buying even though they don't offer manual transmissions much and because of crap like "backup cameras" then, yeah... it actually means a lot of their customers are people I don't respect and I don't think they should be making trucks for if they value my business, which they clearly don't.

clearly they don't. as most of the major manufacturers don't. problem is when the "old" model lines wear out, what's left to buy in the next 20 years? Deep down I will admit I feel contempt for automatic transmissions even though I've driven one. I feel contempt for people that can't read a map and need GPS... I'm just a crotchety old bastard who likes the older trucks

Off-road is different! I mean people who use GPS for pavement, constantly. I have an old school GPS for deep in the woods, a Garmin handheld.

 

Let's just boil it down to: yes. Lots of explanation for that but nobody is going to read it anyway, so, absolutely I dislike most people buying them now.

 

I like my 05. No gps, no backup camera, no xm radio, no traction control, no hill assist, no crawl control. Just 4x4 with a lsd. It goes pretty much where i point it.

 

I dont have the power to do that.

What's ACTUALLY disgusting is how incredibly moist my automatic transmission dclb with a backup camera makes me. I have to use plastic seat covers to contain all my hot juice! .
