Dude, just stop. Logic went out the window a while ago. Also, logic isn't allowed on the internet; you should know this.

OP what vehicle are you currently driving?

It may help shine some light into the dark hole you have dug.

    Serious question

83 people are anxiously waiting for a resolution to this thread.

Will OPs logic cause Toyota stock and Tacoma values to plummet?

Will OP turn out to be a Honda Ridgeline owner how is here to stir some poo?

So many questions and not enough answers.

I've had my Tacoma for 6 years now and trough my 20s. I lived on a farm on a mountain for 3 years. You had to drive 7 miles up a washboard road that turned to greasy red clay in the winter. I lived out of it for a year while travelling all the while having my muddy cattledog climb in and out. I've driven clear across the country 5 times, twice completely overloaded pulling an 8x10 trailer full of motorcycles and tools. Ive used it to haul thousands of pounds of scrap metal past the weight rating about 100 times. My wife drives it right now to work every day 60 miles round trip and it's got 230,000 miles on it. We still go camping in it most weekends.

All I have done besides a 3" suspension lift is regular maintenance. I bought the truck for $10,000 6 years ago and I still can't really afford a new truck.

I'd say Tacomas are worth the high price.

hahahaha! I love animals and hate most people, that's why I drive my trucks where they shouldn't go, to photograph butterflies and turtles and crap... You work in "customer service" long enough and you might get there... I should've picked a real job.

So...is it safe to say that these items have either fatigued and/or failed on your previous vehicles?
    • Cv axles
    • shocks
    • gaskets
    • paint wear/deformations
    • alignment
    • steering components
    • leaf packs
    • spindles
    • oil/gas pans
Just to let you know...in the open desert these are routine items that either fail, or likely will in time. Some are upgradeable, others just fail if you push it. Speed and uneven terrain can be a deadly combination as many trucks from all manufacturers have this issue...even the Baja 1000 vehicles.

To expect that a thin metal body with standard paint apps is going to not bend/scrape through fields, brush, forests is just a fantasy. Obviously as you are likely aware, just being in the brush of things will probably get you the "pinstripes" that we all just love and cherish. I think it might be time to come to the conclusion that a platform to achieve what you expect will likely be 2-3 times more expensive than a Tacoma, if not more.

No, OP hopes Toyota releases the TRD Kayakingguy edition that only costs $10k or less, is literally bulletproof, and runs on pure distaste for Toyota and its customers instead of gasoline.

There are so many contradictions in both this post and this whole thread...I don't even know where to begin.

I'm just going to assume that this is your version of "regular off-roading":
