the whole point of investing in a Tacoma vs say a Colorado is to keep that Inflated Value you keep mentioning. I never want to sell mine, but should i want to its nice knowing that i will get around or close to what i put into it when i do sell. That is a measurement of craftmenship and high market demand, what your wanting is just ridiculous, if that was the case the market would be flooded with cheep made/ used Tacoma's/ other cars and Car company wouldn't be making newer models to make them better and greater each year. To me it sounds like your stuck in the 80's where cars were made so poorly they held little residual value, and i wouldn't want that again. You pay for what you get man.

My truck is currently valued above what I owe, as it should be. What's really the complaint here OP?

Other than you expect a truck to withstand whatever abuse you put it through. Which sounds to me like you need to learn how to work on vehicles and fix your problems, and driving habits. Don't blame manufacturers for your lack of respect to what you should be considering an investment since these trucks DO have a high resell value.

Sorry to keep being that guy, but care to elaborate? I have about 5 buddies who drive dodge trucks...they are pretty good about dying just before 100k drive train wise. The older ford trucks are pretty solid, but the mid 90s and up crap out pretty fast in other regards. Chevy is hit or miss depending on the platform. My Tacoma buddies actually wheel, create stories, and are out the next month...the others...mall crawling killed 95% of their vehicles.

This is just a quick view of some of my experiences with these platforms. Care to share how the Tacoma was on par with the vehicles you have had before? Also...how many vehicles have you had for the record that you have owned?

All trucks are inflated right now. Get over it.

This, too, shall pass. Just like 22 ammo, and ammo in general. It was high as a meth head a few years back, now it's back on the shelves and prices are falling.

    Move on.

Well, I accept defeat, but cars are generally not an "investment" they are a depreciating asset (unless you have some rare vintage vehice). They really should never be worth more than you owe if they are financed. I truly do wish they just kept making the same truck the past 20 years and it was more affordable. This is a fantasy of course but the reality now is so far at the other end we will never agree on this. Hence: defeat accepted. Why argue with people of a different religion? Nobody is going to convince anyone to believe differently.

No one single civilian street legal vehicle manufacturer builds a vehicle for the sole purpose of offroad. They make four wheel drive vehicles. They don't market them as offroad workhorses

Speaking of way overpriced vehicles, I do believe the Ford Raptor is marketed as such.

so was the ram runner and the chevy reaper but the off road capability's never outweighed how terrible they handled on road so no one wanted them as a daily.
