Anyone replace their stock 215 70 R15 stock tires with 225 75 R15 's? If so, did it make any difference in ride or handling?

How did the 225 75 R15's affect the ride quality? Details ? I would like to replace the stock size tires with some that have a smoother ride. Would going to a taller tire (75) make a noticeable difference?

A smoother ride will more be a combination of sidewall rating and tread. Bigger tire = heavier tire almost always, so that doesn't really help matters.

Then it it all down to suspension after that.

I tried out a Nissan Frontier base a while back, which comes with 235 75 R15 tires and it had a much smoother ride than the Tacoma. With the Tacoma's 70 series tires, it seems every little defect in the road is transmitted into the cab. I believe this increases the rattles, pops, creaks, etc. that are heard. If you have items in bags ( plastic or paper) in the passenger seat and/or on the floor board, they are continuously making noises even on smooth roads. Btw, the tires are not out of balance. Do Tacoma's have a built in vibration??
