Wasting money... Probably the only place to be when the heat index is 110+

    0803171442_HDR.jpg

Might be doing a little road tour one day, debating on renting a '17 f-type or a 60s beetle...

Thank God i wasn't planning on financing the trip on any winnings...

SR5 chrome grill, Tundra alloys. The latest 16" Michelin Defenders, Pioneer HU, Alpine Power Pack, JL C2-650 components, JL 10 Powered sub, Spyder brand fog and halos (which are total crap). Katskin aftermarket black/grey leather.
Wow! At least two of your pics that could make a Tacoma catalog front cover. Utah and the snow. That trek looks B.A!

    Happy birthday to Mars Curiosity!

This is what I tell myself when I'm out in the wilderness.

 just kidding, although after being in Cali, I'd be content with not seeing humans again. :burp:

Up until this point, the Idaho panhandle has had the most serious trash problem. Camp sites look like mini trash dumps at every stop I made, huge amounts not just a few things here and there. Garbage in pristine rivers, pretty sad. :angrygirl:

Then I get to Cali. I didn't have high expectations but there is so much garbage everywhere you turn. Roadsides, "nature preserves" just everywhere you look there's trash that's clearly been there for ages. Maybe picking up trash "Contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm." :der:

Looking forward to sub 100 degree temps in a few days.

I did shred some gnar at the beach yesterday. No shark nibbles either. Drank a bunch of salt water a few times though. Crazy waves came out of nowhere. There was a surfing/skating/bmx competition going on.

Cool front in Cali today. The heat index might stay under triple digits.

Less than 24 hours until I'm back to work. When I get back I'm going to change the oil, do a once over while I'm under there, check all the lube points and work on heading into Canada. Maybe try to knock out the Morrison Trail write-up while I have service. Need to cool off and restock the fridge/freezer before rolling out as well.

    Back in Montana.

Changed the oil, lubed all the lube points and did a once over to make sure everything looks good. Time to mosey north. :bananadance:

Made it into Canada! They let me in after searching the truck, leaving it a lovely mess.

    0808171836b_HDR.jpg

I randomly was cruising down a dirt road and stopped for a picture. One of the idler or tensioner pulley bearings appear to be the cause of the squeak i get over bumps that I thought was something on the roof rack.

It was squeaking real well for a minute then randomly went quiet. Hasn't done it since and it's never done it before.

I'm learning that prices are hella expensive in Canada. $80 each for two idlers, over $100 for the third. They don't have a tensioner in stock and i didn't ask the price. Going to take the belt off and hope i can figure out which one is the issue. And then hopefully i can just replace the bearing.

    Beach Vacation!

Finally some updates. I was on the side trip so it doesn't seem like its been that long, until I had to go back to the beginning of the month to find pictures! One of the reasons for my roundabout travels around Montana/Idaho was that I had a flight out of Missoula that I purchased before the trip and needed to get back there. I was going to be heading from the least populated area to the most populated… Los Angeles for a wedding. But hey, I surely needed a break from work.

It was a great time, hung out with family and new friends. Did a lot of urban hiking, exploring, even got in some boarding. I walked a few miles from LAX… since I first wanted to try In N Out burger since it was one of those “have to try” places. It was decent. Then I walked through Marina Del Ray, Venice and Santa Monica Beaches. It was great people watching, I forgot about the sunscreen and caught a bit of a sunburn.

The skate park was entertaining. Some good talent… all of it being much better than me.

    And the painted walls.

There was a skate, bike and surf competition going on at Huntington Beach. Thats where I dropped into a few waves to show them how its done.

Nah… I actually just got a good workout and swallowed a bunch of sea water but had a good time and was able to ride a few waves in.

Sweet truck I came across while walking around.

Checked out the star walk (I think thats what its called). Saw Shrek’s star, the only one I knew. Haha. All serious business.
