Hi guys, I picked up my first Tacoma about 8 months ago for $750. Sold the canopy that was in it for $250. Had to do a frame swap because it was rusted through. Turned out pretty good. I have wanted one for a long time and could not pass it up.

Did a few things, lift, tint, wheels off a 2017, grills with an FJ Toyota logo, leather and heated seats, navi, backup camera.

205k miles still runs like new.

With everything said and done probably around $12k I work at a Toyota dealership and got employee rate on the frame swap labor, the techs were giving me a bunch of crap about dumping all that money into it, but a new one with everything I have on this truck would be well over $30k and I like the 1st gen body better than the 2nd or 3rd, so I am good with the money I have into it.

I know it's a lot, but I also know that I could have spent close to that on a used one in great shape. The difference being I know what has been done to this truck, all new brake and fuel lines, gas tank, suspension, timing belt, water pump, hitch, headlights.

The tech that did all the work wanted to kill me. It was originally a midwest truck and everything was corroded really badly and it was a pain to tear apart and put back together. Plus he was getting straight time so it took 5 months to get done in between jobs.

I got this truck because I sold the original owner a new one and he was telling my how he was taking his old one to the scrap yard. I asked him if it ran and he said yeah it runs great! That's when he told me about the frame and I bought it without even seeing it. When I saw it I was thrilled to death, drove it home and brought it to work to check out the frame. I didn't drive it again until the swap was done and would not have driven it if I had known how bad it was.

Found a frame down in CA and had it shipped up to Washington and then waited.... Every time they tore something apart I had to buy something because it was so corroded that it broke trying to get it apart.
