i have a 2010 access cab w/camper shell. Its my DD, and the shell really is worth every penny. I coach high school baseball, i run a small side business, and i hate cleaning out truck. So the shell is great and allows me to keep stuff dry and out of sight year round.

I just recently got rid of fullsize 4x4 that was a hunting/work truck to get a 2012 Reg Cab 4cyl 4x4.

The 2012 will be a hunting truck and a work truck to pull a small trailer during summer... but i normally take a few hunting trips during the year where i could certainly use the shell on the 2012.... losing the ext cab/tool box will suck, but if shell will
    Fit thats perfect.

Will 2010 access cab shell fit 2012 reg cab? Figured id save time and ask before going through hassle of getting a friend to come over and help me experiment.

And no colors dont match.. colors are white and pyrite mica... but i dont care. Im a function type of guy... details dont matter too much

It will install and fit but the shape of the shell at the cab is different. Basically it will work but not looks great because of the cab difference.

Most of the access cab models will not fit on the regular cab. The access is curved while the regular cab is straight, and the curved back on the access model will hit the back of the regular cab cab and scratch up the paint. On a few, I have heard of the curved edges not hitting the cab but it will on most. I just picked up a regular cab topper and did all the research as finding a used regular cab topper is very hard in comparison to the access/double cab.

Yeah that was what i was thinking would be the case.

It seems there is a bestop i found and the guybis asking $200. I see mixed reviews as far as being water tight. Should i persue? Wont need it full time, just a few times a year.

For the few times you will need it I'm assuming need it water tight? From what i have heard, they aren't waterproof, but don't let in much water. I would wait it out and try and find a used regular cab topper. There are lots of regular cab tacos in my area that were fleet vehicles and came with toppers, you just need to find one for sale and offer them cash to buy just the topper off it. I ended up getting mine for 250, after looking for 3 weeks.

If the bestop is in decent shape you could sell it for 200 pretty easily if it doesn't pan out.

No doubt its a steal... and possibly even get it for cheaper... but id much prefer a hard shell that locks... ill keep an eye on it though... if its there after a week or two, i might not have a choice but to try it out.

Goings from a '05 Ext cab silverado to Reg Cab just doesnt give much room. I can fit gun in tool box along woth most of hunting clothes... crossbow/bow will have to be in cab... but it will certainly give me room, but take some getting use too.

For those long trips to mountains is where i need space. Its my stuff and a buddy normally.
