I posted this in the 3rd gen forum as I was specifically tailoring these for the non-DRL lows and projector housing for the new model, but I'll cross post here for others' sake.

Diode Dynamics sells this combination as Hylux is one of, if not the best aftermarket ballast manufacturer. Yes, they are made in China, but what HID brand isn't?

CNLight is also one of China's top bulb manufacturers.

I purchased from an ebay seller and the price was listed at 66 dollars shipped from china. I opted to upgrade the bulbs to their "ball type" which is supposed to be better at focusing the light. Not sure how much that's needed with a projector housing, but all said and done I paid 81 dollars to get this kit. Hard to beat that.

Since my Tacoma doesn't have PWM problems as the lows don't function as DRL, and there is no canbus, I went with their non-canbus ballast for simplicity sake. I wanted an OEM look bulb so I went with 4300k bulbs.

    2x A2088 35W
2x CNLight 4300k Ball Type H11B (B has inverted ceramic wire so no shadow in projectors)

The back of my headlight housing isn't sealed so I didn't need to worry about drilling out a cap to fish wires so I cut off the grommet and use some Harbor Freight 1/4" wire wrap to give it a more OEM appearance.

Mounting points for the ballasts are nice and hidden using existing ground straps.

They arc higher onto oncoming traffic or is that just how the headlight is designed. I would consider a retrofit with a straight cutoff to avoid blinding oncoming traffic.

That's the design of the projectors. Intentional projection of light to reflect signs above the projectors cutoff, as I understand it.

The color is different, but it's no brighter than the Halogens, and actually seems to be minimized thanks to the shadow cast by the H11B's ceramic orientation. Oncoming traffic is not being blinded.

    Hey Scooby,

What are your thoughts on 35w vs 55w systems. Also what are your thoughts on competing companies like Opt7?

55w are definitely brighter but also warm up the color of your bulbs. 35w paired with a good bulb produces more than enough light IMO. I have very low opinion of OPT7. They rebrand the same generic chinese junk that other suppliers offer.

Awesome thanks for the response. I think I'm going to order to order your kit and try it out.

Make sure you check my other thread I linked you to in chat, as that details why you'll need a relay harness with that kit.
