    Somewhere in the Mojave Desert...
    Vehicle:
    2017 Tacoma OR 4x4 (formerly 2002 OR 4x4, 1995 4x4 4Runner, 1985 4x4 Toy PU) ... and RIP’s (rust in pieces) to a Bronco II 4x4 & S10 Blazer 4x4
Now that I went from a stock gen 1 to a stock gen 3, I find that the front of my trailer rides lower than it used to ( the hitch on the gen 3 is lower) so I need to either raise the settings on my hitch a bit to level my "Baja edition" trailer (easy enough since the weight distribution hitch has such settings), or raise the Taco a few inches. Cost aside, it would be nice to have a bit more clearance on the truck, so I wondered about solving it with a lift kit.

So, for those with experience with lifting their type 3's - how much did your lift change cornering and stability? I like the look, but also drive a lot where cornering is important on mountain highways.

I'm new to this, so will be researching the options and appreciate your personal recommendations and experiences with it!

Considering there are many different ways to lift your truck and different heights you should narrow it down to what option you'd like to do.

I have a stage 1 Icon suspension lift (with ICON progressive leaf pack) with about 2.25" lift. The shocks are firmer at lower shaft speed so it actually has better cornering and stability over the stock OR suspension.

Tires give real clearance. Lift changes approach angles and some underneath clearance once the axles are past an obstacle.

Since handling is a concern, any lift will raise the COG, reducing handling.

I'd tweak the trailer. Then adjust the truck to correct deficiencies as you find them in your type of usage.

I wouldn't go with Icon. A lot of bad experiences reported here with their customer service as well as their tech team giving out bad advice/info. Just ask @GPsevinSixx There also seems to be an inordinate amount of folks reporting quality issues with the icon shocks.

I think icon may have gotten a little too big for their own britches.

Recommend the 6112 /5160 combo. See my write up linked in my signature block below.

That progressive three leaf AAL pack is the same pack sold by several different vendors, under various vendor names... Icon sells it, Headstrong, Wheelers Offroad and others.... some with more mark-up than others. They all have "CANADA" stamped on the side and they look identical. It would appear they're all manufactured by Deaver. You'll pay more for the one marketed under Icon's name to my recollection.

Yup, I'm avoiding them for now. I'm sure they make decent items and I have their relabeled AAL pack, but their tech support guy gave some really bad info that would cause serious rear brake failure or issues had I followed what he told me to do...LOL.
Good thing I knew better. I've read/seen enough posts on here from reputable members and from friends that aren't on TW that have earned them the reliable and trustworthy namesake as, "3rd gens" of the suspension/motion control product manufacturers.... no thanks.
