Plecebo is a really cool effect in physics. Both of you should look it up.

I am on the boat of use it if it works for you. I do not use caps, nor have I ever used them regularly. Systems that I have built that had current draw issues were fixed either through a large cables on the big three or upgrading the alternator.

One thing to note, caps do look kind of cool.

As for them reducing the current draw, that is not possible. Capacitors will in fact increase the total load and increase the current draw (albeit negligable). What they are supposed to do is spread the instantaneous spike in draw over the recharge time of the capacitor. For that, perhaps they help some systems that are on the edge of being over drawn... but again, if it works for you, then use them. I'm just not going to tell you that they are anything but a band-aid.

i could care less weather or not you own your own company or anything like that. It doesn't take owning a company to realize that capacitors are useless.

    did you even read?

You could care less, as in you kind of care as there are things that matter less to you? :D

But it is true, you could be doing things wrong for years and people could pay you to do things incorrectly. But, end of the day, it doesn't really matter. If they work for him, then awesome. I suspect it is placebo, because the physics doesn't support large capacitors fixing an undersized alternator. Though you must watch the specs of the alt. Some high output alternators actually put out lower amperage at idle than the stock alt. Just something to watch out for in the future.

capacitors have their use for large industrial plants that have a lot of ac motors that start up and shut down, because they not only pay for their power draw but also pay for that increase in power spike on their lines(when these motors start up they have a huge draw), hence the power company has to include that factor in their rates, with the Tacoma and 130 amp alternator most 2 amp systems that draw less that 1000w RMS (thats at the peak you'll never be that high if you like your ears) you will be fine, unless you want to rock a party on the battery alone then you might want to get a better battery.
